Chatrapur, (Ganjam) 24/07/18: Armed miscreants looted Rs 25.30 lac from the employees of a toll gate on National Highway-16 in Odisha’s Ganjam district on 2nd of this month.
The incident happened at Haridamula under the jurisdiction of Khallikote police station when two employees of the toll gate at Gorapalli, were on their way to deposit Rs 25.30 lakh in a bank at Khallikote, a place near the toll gate.
Basing on the FIR by Saibaba Palem, Manager (Admn).Khalikote police registered a case and started the investigation. The complainant has alleged that five un known culprits born with two bikes committed dacoity of Rs.25.30 lakh mobile phones and key of Scorpio near Haridamula Jn.by assaulting the driver and terrorising them on the gun point while they were proceeding to Axix Bank, Khalikote for depositing the collected amount from the toll gate.
Soon after the incident police resumed investigation of the case by forming in different team to nab the accused person involved in this crime.
Today in a press meet Ganjam SPO,Mr Brijesh Ray told to scribes that, during the course of investigation its ascertained till right now more than 8/9 persons are involved in this crime .out of them six accused namely George @ Sanjeev Mullick of Satya Nagar,Bhubaneswar,Prashant Kumar Sethy @ Nanda of Khalikote,Subash Behera @ Chaamera of Jagatpur,Cuttack, K.Ramesh [email protected] of Puri ,Kukuda @Jogendra Behera of Bolagada,Khurdha and Ghanta Srinivas of Vishakapatnam has been apprehended and recovered Cash Rs.10.15 lakh,one 9 mm Pistol,3 round live bullet,1 Laptop,11 Mobile phones,3 Bikes,2 Four Wheelers.
While interacted with Ajey Pratap Swain, ASP he said, special team has been formed and sincere steps are being taken to apprehend other involved absconding accused person and rest looted articles.
RORUKELA: Crime rate has gone up since last one year in Rourkela. Many criminal events have been occurred and in many cases police had managed to arrest the culprits and failed in some few cases. Recently Jhirpani Police has arrested few dacoits involved in Jagda loot case and yesterday after getting the information from Umashankar Das, SP, Rourkela about dacoits planning in power house road of Rourkela. DSP, P K Mishra and his team had reached in power house road yesterday evening and nabbed four dacoits who were planning to loot but one dacoit managed to flee from the spot. All accused were then brought to police station and from them police have seized three swords, one pistol. After police enquiry they confessed many other severe crimes they have committed in Rourkela, Rajgangpur, Kuarnmunda and in Bilaspur areas. All dacoits who were arrested are Md Jalil, Md Raja and Md Chand of Rajgangpur, Md Aftab of Gopabandhupalli, Rourkela. They have confessed of their involvment in many cases since 2016 and have murdered one veterinary surgeon of Kuarmunda area few years back only because he opposed them while they were looting his house. They were very aggressive and taking all bold step of murdering anyone, if objected. They were involved in dacoity of one DGM’s house in sector-9, Babuli Nayak’s house in sector-1, two dacoits in Rajgangpur and many cases in Bilaspur. The leader of the gang was Md Jalil. Most of the time, Jalil was staying outside Rourkela in Kharagpur and in Ranchi. But recently he had formed a new gang including few train snatchers. Police was taking all note of his movement. When police got the information that he is in the town and planning for loot, police immediately came into action and nabbed him and other three members of his gang. Police has now intensified their search for the other member who is at large.

Berhampur,(20/07/18):In a bid to curb crime control and rise of criminal activities in Berhampur Police have conducted mock drills at 29 banks in the city to verify their security aspects.
"The inspector-in-charge and other officers of all police stations in the Berhampur police district, who on Wednesday took part in the mock drill, checked the security aspects in the banks, including the SBI and its main branch, apart from many private banks. The cops had scrutinised the CCTV cameras and the functioning of the emergency siren system for one hour," said Berhampur additional police superintendent Shantanu Kumar Dash.
Basis on the instruction by superintendent of police Berhampur Mr Pinak Mishra for the first time police conducted such mock security drills on April 24 keeping in view to control crimes before General election and the recent bank and ATM robberies in the city, the cops have decided to take stringent measures.
Stating to Odishabarta Santanu Dash,ASP said, though the cameras are fitted inside the banks, there is no CCTV camera outside to keep a vigil on the roads. We found that most of the SBI branches, including the main branch, lacked adequate security. Some of the branches have CCTV cameras, but they do not have the required megapixel at many places.
Police have reviewed the arrangements, such as the CCTV cameras and security guards and other security aspects in the banks they discussed the standard operational procedures to enhance the banks' security, he added.
However, almost all the private banks are maintaining the security procedure, he said. The emergency siren of many SBI branches did not work (!).
The police are insisting on the security aspects because of the frequent attempts on ATMs.A crime prevention policy has been chalked out.Accordingly, foot patrolling will be intensified soon in city and picketing by armed personnel at different squares will be introduce , said Asish Singh,DIG of Police (SR),Berhampur.

Berhampur, (17/07/18): Today Berhampur police arrested four accuse person in connection of Insurance claim by producing fake death certificate. In this racket Medical staff and Municipal staff members too involved as said by Nihar Ranjan Pradhan, IIC,Berhampur Town Police station.
According to Nihar one Sudam Nahak, of Rambha in Ganjam commenced a policy in the name his mother Duhuti Nahak with Sriram Life Insurance Ltd and claimed for Rs 5,56 lac declaring death of his mother on dated died on dated.28/04/2016 by giving a fake death certificate issued by CHC,rambha.As it was on early death claim the Company enquired into the matter and found the actual death of Duhuti Nahak was on dated.18/04/2014.They verified the matter from CHC,Khandadeuli through RTI.
In this case Sudam Nahak who is by profession a Teacher and Muna Patra who is a agent of Sriram Life Insurance has handing gloves to cheat the Coy.
Basis on the FIR by Suman Mukharjee,Asst Manager,Legal and anti-fraud with of Sriram Life Insurance,Bhubaneswar,Berhapur Twom Police arrested both Nahak and Patra today and forwarded to court.
In another FIR by the same insurance company accused Prafulla Majhi commenced a policy with Sriram Insurance in the name of his wife Bhagyanti Mjahi on dated.28/10/2015 and claimed for Rs.1,37 lac declaring death of his wife on dated.10/11/2015 by giving a false death certificate issued by CHC Mohona of Gajapati district.
While police enquired the matter from CHC Mohona they verified the matter and found Prafulla Majhi as Nominee and the Insurance agent Prabhat Kumar Prusty arranged false documents and claimed the death insurance.
Prafulla Majhi and Prabhat Prusty also arrested by Town Police station and forwarded to court.
Berhampur,(17/07/18):On 18th this month (Sunday) at about 09:00 AM a group of anti-social forming unlawful assembly attempted to kill Sushant Bishoi (52) of Lanjipalli,another main accused of Chicken Rabi murder case.On the attack Sushant Bishoi with his associates Rajesh Bishoi,Muna Maharana,Gobinda Naik and Gopi Patra have sustained injuries and subsequently shifted to MKCG Hospital for treatment.
Basis on the report of Sushant Bishoi BN Pur Police started restless operation and arrested nine accused those directly involved in such heinous crime.
In connection on dated.11/08/18 police have arrested nine accused persons named as Raja Das,Bapa Mishra,Santosh Sethi,Dipuna Naik,Pintu Behera,Sunil Mishra,Rabinda Das,Sushant Sahu and Sanyasi Sethi and recovered four bikes, four live Bombs,Remanants of blasted Bombs and five mobile phones.
Today another two have arrested by Berhampur police named as Sudam Bisoi and Siba Nahak.
Ina joint press statement by additional SP, Trinath Patel and Santanu Kumar Dash said, both Sudam Bisoi and Siba Nahak are the master mind and are the main conspirators of the incident and executed the plan how to kill Sushant Bishoi.

Berhampur,(16/07/18): Berhampur police today busted a sex racket here and rescued two sex workers from Hatibandha Street in Berhampur city.
Police raided a house at Hatibandha Street where prostitution was allegedly going on.
Acting on a tip off, police conducted the surprise raid at around 5.30 PM. While three youths and two sex workers were detected.
According to JK Patnaik,IIC,BN Pur police station , a case of immoral traffic detected at Hatibandha Street wherein 3 accused persons including house owner arrested and 2 sex workers detected.
Following Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, 1956 a case has been registered vide the case no,145 dt.16.7.18 U/s 3, 4,5,7.
The follow up action initiated and the accused persons will be forwarded to Court tomorrow. The investigation is on.
Cuttack,(15/07/18):The Special Task Force(STF) of Crime Branch arrested two sharpshooters for having links with gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito.
The accused S K Sayed & Babula Pati were arrested on Saturday night and are now being interrogated, said STF DIG (Deputy Inspector General of Police) Himanshu Lal .
While Pati was nabbed from Kendrapara area, Sayed was arrested from Cuttack. More than 25 cases of loot and extortion are pending against them, sources said.
Meanwhile, STF is also interrogating a Labour Union leader, Rakesh Patnaik of Paradip today. The investigative agency is trying to find out his possible role in other organised crimes besides tender fixing, sources said.
Earlier on Friday, the STF took arrested gangster Tito on further remand to elicit more information about his businesses and crime networks.
Tito was produced before the Kendrapara SDJM Court on Thursday which allowed the CB to take the gangster on remand for three more days.
Talcher,(12/07/18):Talcher police arrested five accused persons including seizure of one pistol, two magazines and eight nos. of live ammunitions, a lighter pistol, three nos. of curved Bhujalis, at the time they planned to terrorize the mining and security staffs engaged at work. The arrested accused persons along with others had looted diesel from big machines of different coal mines with the help of some unscrupulous security staffs regularly. More than one criminal groups are engaged to loot diesel, so that there is serious revengeful competitive attitude of one gang towards the other. The leader of arrested criminal gang had taken a supari of five lacs to kill the other gang leader and eliminate him from Talcher coalfields area. A gang war was very imminent in the area, but timely action of Talcher police under, the killer design could be busted and five accused were arrested. The arrested accused persons are Moti @ Musaraph Khan (29) of Talcher, Jitu @ RudranarayanPradhan (27) of Dhenkanal, Muna @ Abdul Wahid (19), Rocky @ Chanu @ Md. Inzemam (26), Tikili @ Md. Farukh (19) all three are of Daragha Bazar, Cuttack. Apart from above, there are some other accused persons will be arrested very soon said MitrabhanuMohapatra IPS S.P. Angul in a press meet at Talcher P S.
He told news men that a special squad of police will be deployed at Talcher coal mines area to prevent and to detect the criminals with their arms and ammunitions very shortly . As Talcher is a mineral rich and industrial area, Theanti social and criminal activists are coming from different part of the state and outside.
