MISCREANTS LOOT RS 19 LAKH FROM ANDHRA BANK OFFICIALS IN BOLANGIR

Bolangir,11/09/18:Miscreants looted Rs 19 lakh in broad daylight from the officials of Andhra Bank at Bangla Chowk of Deogaon in Bolangir. 

The incident took place when the cashier and a peon of the bank were carrying cash in a van from Tushara branch to Bandhpada branch. 

Three robbers on a bike intercepted the car by firing gunshots and attacked the officials and fled the spot with the cash. 

The driver sustained serious injuries in the attack. 

Earlier on September 1, police had arrested three persons for their alleged involvement in the loot at Jamankira branch of Andhra Bank in Sambalpur on August 3rd.Further in details  awaited.

SEVEN ARRESTED AND LAKHS RUPEES OF ORNAMENTS, CASH SEIZED 

Talcher,10/09/18:Talcher police arrested 7 accused persons of a loot gang engaged in separate theft cases and seized gold and silver ornaments costing above 1 lakh, 2 motor bikes, 4 mobile phones and ready cash of rupees 11 thousand from them. Some of the culprits of the gang were absconded and police tried to arrest them very shortly, said Angul A S P Santosh Kumar Mishra before the media persons in a press meet at colliery police station. 

These arrested culprits were engaged in two separate theft cases under Colliery PS and Vikrampur PS. On last 16th July 2018 night, 4 persons with sharp weapons entered into the quarter of Bidyadhar Dash at South Balanda colony and looted gold and silver ornaments from his wife. And on 30th August 2018 evening, 4 thieves pushed to the quarter of Er. Madan Mohan Biswal at central workshop colony, while his wife was alone in the quarter and looted gold ornaments and cash, two separate cases were lodged at colliery and Vikrampur police station. 

After complaint before Angul SP, Mitrabhanu Mohapatra by trade unions regarding the law and order situation at mining colonies of MCL. Then after a separate police team was formed under the leadership of S D P O. Hemant Kumar Panda with Talcher IIC Soubhagya Chandra Swain, Colliery IIC Niranjan Sethi, Vikrampur IIC Pitambar Mallick and Balanda out post ASI Prasanna Rout to chase up the culprits. From the CC TV footage of South Balanda case, police came to know some clues and attacked on the gang and able to arrest Sipun Pradhan(22) of Kanjara village under Jarapada PS, Samir Barik (26) of Jilinda village under Dasapalla PS, Akshyaya Behera (25) and HirolPradhan of Kukudang village under Angul PS, Mithun Behera (25) and Chandra Behera of MajhidhipaSahi under Vikrampur PS, Rajesh Pradhan (20) of village Sana Singada and Tuna Muduli of Kandarsuni village under Hindol PS. Sri Mishra added. Among others SDPO.H.K.Panda and other officers of the investigating team were present.

Cuttack,04/09/18:Basing on the allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Basudev Maharana, Asst. Engineer, Kesinga Block, Dist- Kalahandi, his (1) residential house at Irrigation Colony, Bhawanipatna Town, (2) Office Chamber at Kesinga Block, (3) house at native village- Paikapada, M. Rampur, (4) house of relative at Junagarh, (5) triple storied building at College road M. Rampur, and (6) two duplex building near M. Rampur College, District-Kalahandi were simultaneously searched today i.e. on 4.9.2018 by the Officers of Vigilance, Koraput Division, Jeypore on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.  

In course of search and inventory, Sri Basudev Maharana, Asst. Engineer, Kesinga Block, Dist- Kalahandi was found in possession of assets worth Rs.1,62,15,662/- (Rupees One Crore Sixty Two Lakhs Fifteen Thousand Six Hundred Sixty Two) including one triple storied building with underground construction and compound wall, two nos of double storied buildings, one single storied building and 7 nos of homestead plots at M. Rampur, Dist- Kalahandi, one Maruti Suzuki Celerio-ZXi car,  one TVS Phonex motor cycle, Bank and insurance deposits, Gold ornaments  and costly household articles.  

During house search, the following movable and immovable assets have been so far unearthed from the possession of Sri Maharana and his family members.

Rampur, (4) Office room at Narla and M. Rampur and (5) Ash Bricks factory at Sripali, PS- Narla, Dist- Kalahandi were simultaneously searched today i.e. on 4.9.2018by the Officers of Vigilance, Koraput Division, Jeypore on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.

Basing on the allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Pravakar Parida, Head Clerk, MPC Autonomous College, Baripada, Dist- Mayurbhanj, his (1) residential house at Kendua, Baisinga, Dist- Mayurbhanj, (2) triple storied commercial complex at Kendua, Baisinga, Dist- Mayurbhanj, (3) house at native village Khandadeulia, PS- Baisinga, Dist- Mayurbhanj, (4) house at Bijay Ramachandrapur at Baripada town and (5) Office room at MPC Autonomous College campus, Baripada, Dist- Mayurbhanj were simultaneously searched today i.e. on 4.9.2018 by the Officers of Vigilance, Balasore Division, Balasore on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Baripada. 

In course of search and inventory, Sri Pravakar Parida, Head clerk, MPC Autonomous College, Baripada, was found in possession of assets worth  Rs.1,16,97,197/- (Rupees One Crore Sixteen Lakhs Ninety Seven Thousand One Hundred  Ninety Seven)  which includes one triple storied commercial complex, one double storied building, 27 nos of plots at Bhubaneswar, Baripada and Baisinga, one cold storage structure and one Out house at Baripada,  one TVS Scooty, Bank deposits and household articles.

INSPECTOR INCHARGE, JATANI POLICE STATION ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE ON GRAFT CHARGE. 

On 3.9.2018 evening, Sri Sanjib Kumar Mohanty, IIC, Jatani Police Station, Dist- Khurda was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Cell Division, Cuttack for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand) from complainant Sri Sumit Kumar Mangaraj, Village- Kudiari, P.S.- Jatani, Dist-  Khurda for not  executing  the warrant of arrest issued against him U/s 110 Cr.P.C. and not to implicate him in other criminal cases.  

Following the trap, searches were conducted at the office chamber and official Government Quarter of Sri Mohanty in the Jatani P.S. premises as well as at his native place in Dhenkanal Town. During the search of the office chamber  and Government quarter, cash of  Rs. 6,71,530/- ( Rupees Six Lakh Seventy One Thousand Five Hundred Thirty), Kissan Vikash Patra worth   Rs. 2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakhs), deposits in different bank amounting to Rs. 8,18,337/- (Rupees Eight Lakhs Eighteen thousand Three Hundred Thirty Seven),  house hold articles worth Rs. 6,07,394/- (Rupees Six Lakhs Seven Thousand Three Hundred Ninety Four), premium paid towards insurance to the tune of Rs. 11,79,071/- (Rupees Eleven lakhs Seventy Nine Thousand Seventy one), gold and silver ornaments worth  Rs. 6,98,200/- (Rupees Six Lakhs Ninety Eight Thousand Two Hundred ) were recovered. Sri Mohanty has purchased land at Jatani, Bhubaneswar and Dhenkanal area for Rs. 16,60,000/- (Rupees Sixteen Lakhs Sixty Thousand). Further enquiry is in progress to unearth more movable and immovable assets. 

Sri Sanjib Kumar Mohanty, IIC was arrested on 4.9.2018 and produced before the Learned Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. Learned Court have rejected his bail application and remanded him to jail custody till 17.9.2018.  

In this connection, Vigilance Cell P.S. case No. 10 dtd. 3.9.2018 U/s7 (a) Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.

 

SANJIB MOHANTY,IIC,JATNI LANDS IN VIGILANCE NET WHILE ACCEPTING RS 50K BRIBE

Jatni,(Khurda),03/09/18:Inspector-in-charge of Jatni police station, Sanjib Kumar Mohanty, was on Monday arrested by the vigilance sleuths for allegedly accepting illegal gratification from a person.

Vigilance sleuths of Cuttack division led by DSP Prakash Nayak caught Mohanty red-handed while he was accepting Rs 50,000 bribe from Sunil Kumar Mangaraj of Kudiari village under Jatni police limits for not implicating him in a criminal case under major Section of IPC.

In view of the crowd at the police station following Mohanty’s arrest, he was taken to Cuttack vigilance cell.

Later, the vigilance officials carried out searches at his quarters in Jatni and detected Rs 6 lakh in cash and gold jewelleries. Further search was on at the residence of the IIC till the last report came in.

JAILOR BOOKED FOR TORTURING, & BLACKMAILING GIRL (!).

Bhadrak,02/09/18: A jailor posted in Bhadrak district has landed in trouble after a girl, claiming to be his wife lodged an FIR accusing the latter of blackmailing her with videos of their intimate moments, besides torturing her physically and mentally. 

A case has been registered against the accused jailor, Chinmaya Patra at Bhadrak Town police station under Sections 498A, 494, 495, 406, 417, and 506 of IPC. 

According to the plaint, Patra had befriended the girl on Facebook a year ago when she was studying in a private engineering college in Balasore. Later, they married at a temple in Khiching of Mayurbhanj district and started staying at Patra’s government quarters. During the period, the accused recorded moments of their intimacy on his mobile phone. 

But when the victim learnt that Patra was already married and has two children, she opposed it. The accused then threatened her not to disclose the matter to anyone and started blackmailing her with the videos clip of their private moments, The complaint further stated. 

On the basis of a complaint filed by the girl filed a complaint yesterday a case has been registered and investigation into the matter is underway, police said.

DGP ORDERS CRIME BRANCH PROBE INTO SUICIDE OF THEFT ACCUSED

Cuttack,30/08/18:Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma today ordered a Crime Branch (CB) probe into the suicide of a theft accused at Mahakalapada police station in Kendrapara district on August 26.

A DSP rank officer of CID CB has been asked to investigate the incident and its connected cases.

In a release, the Odisha State Police Headquarters said, “Considering the gravity of the case, and for a fair and impartial investigation, DGP Sharma has ordered Crime Branch inquiry of the incident.”

Notably, one Abinash Paital, 25, of Balana village under Marshaghai police limits in the district was arrested by Mahakalapada police in a mobile theft case. He escaped from the police station and allegedly committed suicide on August 26.

The incident had triggered tension on the area as locals staged a protest demanding action against the policemen responsible for it. Later DGP Sharma suspended Mahakalapada inspector-in-charge Shyamaghana Behera for negligence in duty.

There was serious law and order situation in the area after the suspicious death of Abinash Paital on 26.08.2018. DGP had earlier.

Three Maoists surrendered before Rourkela Police

ROUREKLA,25/08/18:In a recent development, three Maoists have surrendered before Rourkela Police on 24th August, 2018. This decision has been made by them after getting influenced to join the main stream of life, as police has been doing the same in Mao influenced area. These three Maoists are Jagan Singh alias Ratan (23) of VillKarda, PS-Chandiposh, Sundergarh, Matu Buding alias Tejash (31) of Vill-Baduiya, PS-Chhotnagra, Dist-West Singhbhum, Jharkhand and Gomia Munda alias Guna (35) of Vill-Lunga, PS-Daleisera, Dist- Sundergarh. Many cash awards were awarded on these Maoists and were sought by the police for last few years. Jagna Singh who hails from Chandiposh joined in 2010 and has been active since then. He was involved in exchange of fire in Boudh, Kandhamal, Angul, Sambalpur, Deogarh and Sundergarh districts.  His fluency in all languages helped him to operate in these areas. Matu Buding had joined Maoist organizations in 2009 and in 2010 he was arrested by Police in Jharkhand for land mine blast in Jamkundia, Chhotnagpur police area and was active till June, 2018. He joined the Mao organizations in 2008 and subsequently became Militia Commander. He was assisting in providing logistics support, rations and uniforms etc. This media briefing had come from Odihsa police and 19 Bn CRPF jointly. All these Maoists will be compensated under Surrender Plans floated by Odisha Police. In this press meeting DIGP, Western range, Odisha, Kavita Jalan and Umashankar Das, SP, Rourkela were present with other officers from 19Bn police.

 

GAMBLING DEN BUSTED BY PINAK MISHRA,SP,BERHAMPUR IN BERHAMPUR

Berhampur,23/08/18:Launching a crackdown on rampant gambling in Berhampur city in day time, Berhampur SP,Pinak Mishra with his team   busted a gambling den at Ananta Nagar at SBI Transit house. 

In connection SP arrested 10 persons red-handed from the spot. 

The raid was conducted after SP got a tip-off on the den in the day time. 

During the raid cops managed to nab 10 gamblers from the spot while they were busy in deals. They also seized a eleven nos of  mobile phones, five  bikes and cash worth over Rs 4,05,642. 

 “More similar raids are lined up in the coming days as the area has witnessed a sharp rise in gambling activity” said Mishra,SP,Berhampur. 

The held gamblers have been forwarded to court today.
