Kandhamal,13/01/19: On a schoolgirl delivering baby in a hostel in Kandhamal.
The 14-year-old girl, a student of class eight, delivered the baby in the school hostel on Saturday (January 12) night, Kandhamal District Welfare Officer (DWO), Charulata Mallick said.
The school 'Seva Ashram High School' at Daringibadi in Kandhamal district is run by the SC and ST development department of Odisha. The student and her newborn were admitted to a local hospital, where their condition is stated to be normal.
Taking strict actions in the incident of a schoolgirl delivering baby in a hostel, the district administration has suspended five persons in this connection.
According to reports, three Assistant Superintendents, 1 health worker (ANM) and 2 matrons, of the hostel have been suspended by the Kandhamal district administration.
The Kandhamal Collector has also directed the sub-Collector to conduct a probe into the matter and submit the report within 10 days.
Besides, the district Collector has written a letter to the state government recommending action against the headmistress of the tribal residential school in Baliguda in the district.
