BJD STUDENT LEADER ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL FIREARM TRADE

Bhubaneswar,21/03/19: BJD student leader Chinmaya Nanda Badajena was arrested late last night for his alleged involvement in illegal firearms trade in Bhubaneswar. 

Acting on a tipoff, the Special task Force of Crime Branch had laid a trap to nab Badajena. When Badajena was negotiating a deal with an undercover cop to sell a gun for Rs 45,000, the STF caught the student leader and his six associates red-handed. The STF also seized a bullet shell from the spot after Badajena carried out a blank firing to show the undercover cop whether the firearm was functioning properly or not. 

Following the arrest, the STF handed over Badajena and his associates to Dhauli police to elicit further information. However, the police are yet recover the gun from Badajena. 

Reportedly more than 14 cases are pending against Badajena at different police stations. In some cases, warrants were also issued against him.

COP OF ROURKELA POLICE WAS CAUGHT RED HANDED

Sambalpur,20/03/19:A trap was laid, in which Sri Madhusudan Patra, ASI of Police, Brahamanitarang Police Station, Dist.Sundargarh was caught red handed today while accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000/- from the  Complainant, Sri Lalu Ram, Rourkela. 

The allegation is that, Sri Prakash Ram, brother of the Complt. Collects scraps and sells at Vedvyas, Rourkela on last Friday his brother was arrested by ASI Sri Madhusudan Patra of Brahamanitarang Police Station in a case and was forwarded to the Court. On 18/19.03.2019 night ASI Madhusudan Patra came to the house of the Complt. and by breaking open the asbestos roof of the his house and took him to the Police Station while he was sleeping his house and gave threatening to his mother to sent him to Jail in the case if he would not be paid bribe of Rs.30,000/-.  On 19.03.2019 morning Sri Sonu Sahu relative brother of the Complt. met Sri Patra, ASI at the Police Station and requested to leave the Complt., on which Sri Patra, ASI demanded bribe of Rs.5,000/- to release the Complt. without any case from the Police Station. On much persuasion ASI Sri Patra release the Complt. from the Police Station after taking his signature on a plain paper on the condition that if the demanded bribe of Rs.5,000/- is not paid to him on 20.03.2019, he would arrest and forward the Complt. in the same case. Out of fear of arrest and under compulsion the Complt. agreed to pay the demanded bribe money to the accused ASI. 

Accused ASI Madhusudan Patra  received the tainted  G.C. Notes from the Complt. in front of Brahamanitarang Police Station on the road side and kept the same in the left side pocket of his wearing full pant. On seeing the raiding party he started running away from the spot but he was chased by the Vigilance officials and nabbed behind the Police Station near the Police Colony. His left hand wash as well as full pant pocket wash gave positive reaction in sodium carbonate solution confirming his acceptance of the bribe money. The bribe amount of Rs.5,000/- was recovered and seized in front of a Pump House near the Brahamanitarang Police Colony which the accused had thrown away from his pant pocket while running away from the spot.   In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No. 07   dt. 19.03.2019 U/s 7 P.C. Act, 1988 has been registered and investigated into. 

The accused has been arrested and being forwarded to the Court.  His residential Govt. quarter in Police Colony, Plant Site P.S. is being searched.

DACOITY GANG BUSTED IN CITY; ARMS SEIZED

Berhampur,21/03/19:On Thursday at noon a press meet was conducted by Prabhat Routray,ASP and the accused persons with the seizure arms and bullets  presented before Press. They were all hardcore professional anti-socials and all to all are local youths, he added. 

Following the strict instruction of Pinak Mishra the SP, Berhammpur On late  night of.20/21,03,2019  around  13 Hrs  the Berhampur Town Police team foil a major crime  during their night patrolling. 

After the success of BN Pur Police,Bada Bazar and Gosanuagaon today Berhampur Town Police busted another major dacoity in city. 

Bishnu Pati,SDPO, told to scribe that town Cop have  received a confirmed  information that a group of anti-socials are gathered at Suraj VIhar in City and planning  to commit a major dacoity. Soon the police officers diverted the root to the spot a raid was conducted .In connection five persons were apprehended.

The accused persons are;  Koko @ Kokhan,Kuna Sethy,Sandy @ Sandeep Agarwal,Aiash Khan,Kanhu Panda.All forwarded to court.

PRE - ELECTION CRIME CONTROL - BERHAMPUR CITY POLICE FOIL DACOITY BID

Berhampur,20/03/19:On On 19/20/3 night  at 1 am the Bada Bazar police  on night patrolling they received a secret  of information that a group of anti-socials are gathered in a particular place in city to commit a major crime. 

Soon the IIC Prashant Bhupati and his officers rush to the spot and a raid was conducted .In connection five persons were apprehended. 

Immediately the police team raided over them and could be able to caught them on spot all five anti-socials with a cache of illegal arms like; one country made pistol of 12 bore,5 nos live ammunition,3 swords, and two number of bikes without  registration from their possession.During interrogation, the arrested confessed to their plan of committing  dacoity.

According to IIC Prashant Bhupati the accused persons are local criminals have past crime record in different police stations.They were  identified as Pintu Sethy,Papu Sethy ,P Rajesh Rao,Kalia Dakua and S Rajat Sahoo.All forwarded to court this evening.

ILLEGAL SPURIOUS LIQUOR FACTORY UNEARTHED IN GANJAM

Beguniapada,(Ganjam),16/03/19:On Saturday The Beguniapada police in Ganjam unearthed an illegal production of spurious liquor in a isolated forest at Chandanpur GP under Beguniapada block in Ganjam. 

Earlier, the police had got information that a group of anti-socials are running a factory of spurious liquor in a forest area which is around 10km away from Chandanpur G.P. 

Getting the information OIC, Beguniapada,PS  Dipti R Behera and his team rush to the spot around 2 PM today found the illegal factory and spoiled more than 10 thousand liters. 

While interacted with OIC,Behera he said,only a few days left for the General Election,2019  in the state, liquor Mafias are active for the use of country-made liquor in election we suspected. 

However in connection no one is arrested yet still we are in search to nab the Mafias soon, he added. 

Sources revealed that the demand for liquor had already increased in the rural areas as prospective candidates had started wooing voters.

RAYAGADA POLICE BUSTED SEX RACKET SIX HELD

Rayagada,15/03/19:Police claimed to have busted a sex racket operating in a rented house at Saipriya Nagar in Rayagada Town. 

Acting on a tip-off, the police party conducted a raid in the rented house in Saipriya Nagar last night and rescued a woman while arresting six persons for their alleged involvement in the flesh trade. 

The arrested persons have been identified as Chandan Kumar Choudhary, Amit Kumar Laya, Biren Kumar Laya, Dukhishyam Kar, Jagannath Nayak, and Sibaram Dakua. 

Police also seized Rs 35,000, six mobile phones, a car and a motorcycle from them. 

A case (77/19) has been registered in this connection. The accused persons have also been forwarded to court. A detailed probe into the matter is underway, the police said.

 

ODISHA’S DGP, DISCUSSED ON PEACEFUL CONDUCT OF UPCOMING GENERAL ELECTION IN BERHAMPUR

Berhampur,15/03/19:With elections drawing closer, Director General of Police (DGP) Dr.Rajendra Prasad  Sharma Friday reviewed preparedness of security forces law and order, crime and other related electioneering issues with the SPs and Range IGP to ensure peaceful polls in south Odisha at the conference hall of IGP,(SR),Behampur. 

It was the first full-fledged meeting on the eve of forthcoming General Election in Berhampur.A threadbare discussion was held with the all District Superintendent of Police under the southern range. 

DGP asked the SPs to assess the booths and make vulnerability mapping of the booths and critical polling stations basing on the past incidents of violation, political rivalries, booth capturing etc during 2014 general election .

He also asked the SPs to start the confidence building with the PUBLIC-POLICE   and exercises in the Districts, so as to create a friendly and fearless environment before the election.

There will be several meeting; rallies and VVIP visits safety of the candidates in the Districts are expected during electioneering. DGP instructed the SPs to be fair and judicious while granting permission for the purpose.

 “All necessary steps should be taken to ensure that the election is conducted peacefully in a smooth manner without any untoward incident,” Sharma said. 

Necessary measures for transportation and movement of election materials including electronic voting machines (EVMs) were also discussed.

FIVE ROBBERS ARRESTED IN BERHMAPUR

Berhampur,14/03/19:The Gosainuagaon Police arrested five  robbers from Haladiapadar fly over bridge  the outskirts of the city on National Highway-16 in the Berhampur police district today. 

Today in a press meet Mr BP Pati,SDPO(City),briefed that on 13/14.03.2019 night at about 2.00 A.M while Sub Inspector Joyti Ranjan Behera of Gosaninuagam P.S along with sub staffs were performing night patrolling duty at N.H-16 in Police PCR vehicle received information that a group of anti-social were assembled near Haladiapadar fly over bridge being armed with deadly weapons like; pistol. Sword, bombs etc to commit docaity from Hotel Puspa. 

Acting in action Police team rushed the spot, and caught red handed 5 culprits with arm and ammunitions. 

They were identified as Bhabani Sakar Padhi(26 Yrs) ,Sujit Kumar Sahu(21 Yrs)  Prasant Kumar Sahu(28Yrs) Sarat Sahu(26Yrs) and  Susant Sahu(30Yrs) .

Police have seized  one single shut pistol, 2 rounds of Live ammunitions , three nos of sword, one Nokia Mobile phone, cash of Rs 480/-, two nos of bomb were from their possession.

The five robbers have been arrested and forwarded to court. Further investigation in underway," said Summet,IIC,Gosaninauagaon.
