Berhampur,(16/07/18): Berhampur police today busted a sex racket here and rescued two sex workers from Hatibandha Street in Berhampur city.
Police raided a house at Hatibandha Street where prostitution was allegedly going on.
Acting on a tip off, police conducted the surprise raid at around 5.30 PM. While three youths and two sex workers were detected.
According to JK Patnaik,IIC,BN Pur police station , a case of immoral traffic detected at Hatibandha Street wherein 3 accused persons including house owner arrested and 2 sex workers detected.
Following Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, 1956 a case has been registered vide the case no,145 dt.16.7.18 U/s 3, 4,5,7.
The follow up action initiated and the accused persons will be forwarded to Court tomorrow. The investigation is on.
Cuttack,(15/07/18):The Special Task Force(STF) of Crime Branch arrested two sharpshooters for having links with gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito.
The accused S K Sayed & Babula Pati were arrested on Saturday night and are now being interrogated, said STF DIG (Deputy Inspector General of Police) Himanshu Lal .
While Pati was nabbed from Kendrapara area, Sayed was arrested from Cuttack. More than 25 cases of loot and extortion are pending against them, sources said.
Meanwhile, STF is also interrogating a Labour Union leader, Rakesh Patnaik of Paradip today. The investigative agency is trying to find out his possible role in other organised crimes besides tender fixing, sources said.
Earlier on Friday, the STF took arrested gangster Tito on further remand to elicit more information about his businesses and crime networks.
Tito was produced before the Kendrapara SDJM Court on Thursday which allowed the CB to take the gangster on remand for three more days.
Talcher,(12/07/18):Talcher police arrested five accused persons including seizure of one pistol, two magazines and eight nos. of live ammunitions, a lighter pistol, three nos. of curved Bhujalis, at the time they planned to terrorize the mining and security staffs engaged at work. The arrested accused persons along with others had looted diesel from big machines of different coal mines with the help of some unscrupulous security staffs regularly. More than one criminal groups are engaged to loot diesel, so that there is serious revengeful competitive attitude of one gang towards the other. The leader of arrested criminal gang had taken a supari of five lacs to kill the other gang leader and eliminate him from Talcher coalfields area. A gang war was very imminent in the area, but timely action of Talcher police under, the killer design could be busted and five accused were arrested. The arrested accused persons are Moti @ Musaraph Khan (29) of Talcher, Jitu @ RudranarayanPradhan (27) of Dhenkanal, Muna @ Abdul Wahid (19), Rocky @ Chanu @ Md. Inzemam (26), Tikili @ Md. Farukh (19) all three are of Daragha Bazar, Cuttack. Apart from above, there are some other accused persons will be arrested very soon said MitrabhanuMohapatra IPS S.P. Angul in a press meet at Talcher P S.
He told news men that a special squad of police will be deployed at Talcher coal mines area to prevent and to detect the criminals with their arms and ammunitions very shortly . As Talcher is a mineral rich and industrial area, Theanti social and criminal activists are coming from different part of the state and outside. Khurda: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly burnt alive by her husband and in-laws after she failed to meet their dowry demands at Dinagar village under Begunia police limits in Khurda district.The deceased was identified as Chandrakanti Barik.
Chandrakanti, who hailed from Parvatipur village under Fathegarh police limits in Nayagarh district, had married Debashish Barik 10 years back. The couple had a daughter and a son.
During the wedding, Chandrakanti’s in-laws had demanded Rs 50,000 cash and other household articles as dowry. However, her father managed to pay on Rs 20,000.
Soon after the marriage, Chandrakanti’s in-laws started torturing her demanding more dowry and a motorcycle. When she expressed her inability to pay the amount, she was subjected to inhumane torture by her in-laws.
On Sunday night, Debashish and his father and mother allegedly poured kerosene on Chandrakanti and set her on fire. She was first admitted to the district headquarters hospital in Khurda with 90 per cent burns. Later, she was shifted to Sum hospital in Bhubaneswar. After the incident, Chandrakanti’s husband called up her family and informed that she sustained burns due to gas leakage.
In her dying statements, the victim explained how she was being tortured by her in-laws for dowry. She said her husband and in-laws poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim’s father, police registered a case against Chandrakanti’s husband and in-laws. “The accused are absconding. Efforts are on to nab them. Further probe is underway,” police said.
Berahmpur,(11/07/18):On last Sunday (18/07/2018) at about 09:00 AM a group of anti-social forming unlawful assembly attempted to kill Sushant Bishoi (52) of Lanjipalli,another main accused of Chicken Rabi murder case, who was in jail custody and released about a month back. The anti-socials in furtherance of their common object had conspired to Kill Sushant Bishoi by hurling Bombs on the car in which Sushant Bishoi was coming out of his house along with his close associates.
On the attack Sushant Bishoi with his associates Rajesh Bishoi,Muna Maharana,Gobinda Naik and Gopi Patra have sustained injuries and subsequently shifted to MKCG Hospital for treatment.
Basis on the report of Sushant Bishoi BN Pur Police registered a Case vide the case No- 140 u/s.341/307/120-B,34 IPC/3 ES Act and investigated very seriously to nab the criminals involved.
Today in a Press Meet Mr Pinak Mishra, SP, Berhampur told, with this issue four teams were formed and extensive search being taken for arresting of the involved accused persons both in making conspiracy and executing the plan of killing Sushant Bishoi.
Further the CCTV footage and intelligence input are available which help us a ton to nab the criminals because of the evidences gathered are enough for us as best supporting tools.
Following the evidences the accused persons are arrested by our Special and they identified as Raja Das,Bapa Mishra,Santosh Sethi,Dipuna Naik,Pintu Behera,Sunil Mishra,Rabinda Das,Sushant Sahu and Sanyasi Sethi and recovered four bikes, four live Bombs,Remanants of blasted Bombs and five mobile phones.
All the accused will be forwarded to court today, he added. Police said, the incident is fallout of an old enmity.
Berhampur,(10/07/18):Today BN Pur Police arrested six persons namely Radha Krushna Sahu, Deepak Naik, Siba Kumar Ghanta, Gobinda Naik, Pratik Kumar Dalai and Rama Krushna Jena for terrorism the people in Lanjipalli area on 8.7.18 evening. Police have recovered three motor cycles from their possession and forwarded to court.
Notably, on the same day same area some miscreant’s hurl bombs at morning hour as a result police arranged tight security in all sensitive area of the city.
During police alert they all nab by Police for terrorism activity.
Berhampur,(10/07/18):The Police Commissionerate,Bhubaneswar arrested five people in connection with a fake currency note printing unit on last Sunday in Berhampur town.
The accused have been identified as Rameswar Moharana (43) of Ganjam, K Ramesh (56) of Berhampur, Pranam Bhoi (19) of Khordha, Dillip Bhoi (23) and Sarat Sahu.
According to police sources, Sarat and Dillip were trying to exchange some fake currency notes at Mahura Bazaar near Tomando. Being tipped off about the incident, the quick action team (QAT) of the Commissionerate Police and Tomando Police reached the spot and nabbed them.
During interrogation, the duo revealed more about the fake currency notes printing unit in Berhampur, following which a police team raided the place and arrested three accused.
From the spot Police have seized fake currency notes worth Rs 4.65 lakh,one colour printer, 22 cartridges, 22 paper cutters, nine rubber stamps and five mobile phones.

Berhampur,(09/07/18):As many as four persons were reportedly injured after miscreants hurled crude bombs at their car near Lanjipalli area on last Sunday in Berhampur.
Sources said, three unidentified bike-borne miscreants intercepted the car and hurled bombs when Sushant Bisoi along with four others was on their way to a police station to join “AVIJAN PRAYAS” (Mission Reformation).
Four of the car occupants have been injured in the attack and admitted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here for treatment by Cops and locals.
Basis on the investigation of the scientific team and CCTV footage police got many clues and detained few for interrogation. Search is still on with expert Police Officers.
Though the exact reason behind the bombing is yet to be established, it is suspected to be the fall out of past enmity.
SP, Pinak Mishra committed to public issue was not panic in city. We have already achieved our Goal (which is not to press at this minute).Soon they detect, will be dealt with the strictest legal action.
