GANJAM COLLECTOR ALERTS ON POSSIBLE CYCLONIC STORM “FONI” Featured

Ganjam,30/04/19:The Collector Ganjam Mr Vijay Amrut Kulanga today asked all district officers  to remain alert to a possible cyclonic “FANI” which will trigger heavy rainfall in several parts of the districts. 

The collectors also with all preparedness and time to time connected with Special Relief Commissioner (SRC),Odisha Mr Bishnupada Sethi. 

 “In view of the possible cyclone forecast by IMD  all concerned officials have been instructed to keep the administrative machinery in full preparedness to meet any eventuality,” a letter issued by SRC office stated. 

The Collector, Ganjam has also cancelled the leaves of its employees. Rapid Action Force and fire service personnel have been instructed to be ready to deal with a possible emergency. 

It also warned of heavy rainfall at some places in district Ganjam, Heavy to very heavy rainfall will occur at some places in district and some  interior   parts of the district. 

The fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea from March 30th as the conditions would be extremely rough. The fishermen who have gone for deep sea fishing have been asked to return to the coast at the earliest. 

Speaking to reporters, Mr Kulanga,Collector,Ganjam said, the IMD, the depression now moving towards the coast of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh is most likely intensify into a deep depression on Wednesday. Basis on the warning we have started evacuation form the sea belt villages and kept in well condition at all the shelter homes. We have also opened a 24X7 control room for the public interest.
