RORUKELA:World Red Cross Day was celebrated by Rourkela Administration in all jyous mood on 8th of this month.  This unique event kick started in the morning from 6.30 am a procession moved forward form Fitness Park near Muncipal Corporation office to PAITDA office at Uditnagar. Member participants have carried many placards with slogans for blood donation which was flagged up by ADM, Rourkela, Monisha Banerjee. Following the same, one felicitation cum meeting was conducted at PAITDA Hall where in many participants from different walks of people participated which was chaired by Monisha Banerjee. The other guest who present there were Sushma Belung, RMC, Brajendra Das, Senior National Award winner Teacher, who was the chief speaker of the event and many other office dignitaries. The chief guest of the event, Monisha Banerjee had praised different socio organizations who have doing for the society relentlessly and connecting people for their requirements. The Chief speaker of the event, Brajendra Das, briefed how life is precious and whosoever donating blood, indirectly helping people live happily and to bring smile in the face of the needy. This way we can help building a peaceful and progressive society. He also appreciated effort of blood donors who have been very consistent in their efforts.  After the speech by different speakers a prize distribution ceremony was held for open drawing competition held before. In senior groups Prachurjya Priyadarshinee of DPS, Sector-16 bagged the prize for holding first position, followed by joint winners in second position, Premanshu Pritam Berehera of DAV School and Sneha Smruti Mohanty of Guru Nanak School and in third position Adya Abhilipsa of DAV School Basanti Colony. In Higher education segment Dipti Pragyuna Sahu, Tavishi Agrawal and joint winner in third Purabsa Singh and Susobhita Mohapatra received prizes for first second and third positions respectively. As per the day of importance, administration also have felicitated donors with certificates who have largely donated blood and the respected persons were Narendra Singh(donated for 158times) and Anupam Gupta(156 times). After this a voluntary blood donation camp was organized in RGH(Rourkela Govt. Hospital). This camp was inaugurated with lamping by Monisha Banarjee, ADM, Rourkela in presence of Director, RGH, Ramachandra Behera, Dr.Pandit Sahu, Sushama Belung. In this day-long camp many members of voluntary organizations and socio-cultural organization have donated their blood including Prajapita Brahma Kumari, Mission Sunday, Sai Family, Nirankari, Kalinga Vysya Samaj, Fine Art Academy, Students of Muncipal College, Gurukul Vaidik Ashram, Memebrs of Defense Association and individual participants from the city. The entire program was coordinated by staffs of ADM office and DIPRO office under the leadership of Ashwini Kumar Bhoi, DIPRO, Rourkela.
