London,27/09/19:Berhampur dated 28th September 2019: Obesity is increasing in prevalence day by day making people more prone for development of lifestyle disorders including Diabetes, Hypertension, cholesterol and heart problems etc at an early age. World Obesity Federation based at London in association with SMO (Sociedidad Mexicana de Obesidad/ Mexican Obesity Society) organized SCOPE school at Monterrey, Mexico on 26th September 2019.
Berhampur based young endocrinologist Dr Sunil Kumar Kota from Diabetes & Endocare Clinic was awarded with the prestigious SCOPE Scholarship to attend the SCOPE school at Mexico and present his research on various aspects of Obesity and its complications like Diabetes, Hypertension, Hearty & Kidney disorders and Thyroid disorders. Dr Kota has 10 scientific publications in various national and international journals along with authorship of 2 chapters on Obesity to his credit. A pledge was taken by everyone to observe 4th march as World Obesity Day globally from the year 2020.
Total of around 200 participants from various parts of world, consisting of Doctors, Dieticians, Researchers across the globe attend the school in order to update their knowledge on causes, complications, newer modes of diagnosis including genetics and upcoming treatment modalities like newer drugs and surgical skills. Across the globe around 50 participants received the SCOPE school scholarship. Dr Sunil Kota is the only Indian Doctor to be accorded with this prestigious scholarship. Doctors from across India and people from various organizations and other quarters of society have congratulated Dr Kota for his achievement.
