HEALTH AWARENESS CAMP FOR DIABETES, HYPERTENSION AND THYROID FOR GAJAPATI POLICE PERSONNEL Featured

Parlakhemundi,23/06/19:Busy schedule coupled with improper diet, lack of regular physical exercise, and mental stress arising out of profession has lead to quantum jump in lifestyle disorders in police personnel. These include increase in occurrence of metabolic disorders like Diabetes, Hypertension and cholesterol problems across the globe and India in general. Keeping this in view, Gajapati district police has today taken a noble initiative to educate and screen the police personnel for the said disorders. Dr Sunil Kumar Kota, Consultant Endocrinologist from Diabetes & Endocare Clinic, Berhampur and their volunteers have extended their helping hand for this.

In this regard, workshop followed by screening tests were conducted for staff of Gajapati district police under the guidance of Sarah Sharma, SP, Gajapati. Dr Sunil Kota explained to the staff about symptoms, complications, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of Diabetes, Hypertension, Thyroid and cholesterol problems. The interactive question and answer sessions were followed by testing for blood sugar, blood pressure, thyroid, nerve function, urine test for micral (indicator of kidney dysfunction). Around 180 police personnel got benefited from this program.

The meeting was attended by DSP Sri Prakash Chandra Jena, RI Sri Dambarudhara Hinaka. An education material on Diabetes, Hypertension and Thyroid disorder was distributed among the attendees. Lastly SP Gajapati, Sarah Sharma thanked Dr Sunil Kota for his responsible deed towards betterment of society.
