WORKSHOP; LIFESTYLE ALTERATION CAN LEAD TO INCREASE OF METABOLIC DISORDERS & DIABETES Featured

Berhampur dated 8th June 2019: Lifestyle alteration has lead to increase in occurrence of metabolic disorders including Diabetes, Hypertension and cholesterol problems across the globe and India in general. Busy work schedule, sedentary lifestyle, lack of regular physical exercise and associated professional stress has lead to substantial rise in these disorders especially among govt service holders. Keeping this in view, Dr Sunil Kumar Kota, Consultant Endocrinologist from Diabetes & Endocare Clinic, Berhampur has undertaken an effort for increasing awareness and testing of common lifestyle disorders for these staff. 

In this regard, workshops followed by screening were conducted for staff of Berhmapur Sub collectorate under the guidance of Sri Digant Routray, Subcollector and DRDA, (District Rural Development Authority), Chhatrapur under Sri Siddharth Shankar Swain, Project Director, Ganjam. In these workshops, Dr Sunil Kota explained to the staff about symptoms, complications, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of Diabetes, Hypertension, Thyroid and cholesterol problems. The interactive question and answer sessions were followed by testing for blood sugar, blood pressure, thyroid, nerve function, urine test for micral (indicator of kidney dysfunction). Around 40 people from sub collector office and 50 people from DRDA office got benefited from this program. Lastly for both the programs Sub collector Sri Digant Routray and PD Sri Siddharth Shankar Swain thanked Dr Sunil Kota for his responsible deed towards betterment of society.
