Berhampur,The Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik delightful Mr Vijay Amurta Kulange Collector Ganjam handling of cyclone “FANI” which hit Odisha in May 3rd.2019.
The Chief Minster also praised the Ganjam media and all District officers and the cooperation of people of Ganjam for spreading awareness about the cyclone. “Timely dissemination of information about the harshness of the cyclone was the main reason behind minimal human loss,”.
In a reference the Odisha State Government also mentioned that it would highlight the District efforts as a model for disaster management programmes which is adopted by the District Administration of Ganjam.
When the latest Indian National Centre of Ocean Information Services conveyed the model predict the land fall at a kissing distance from Gopalpur and Chilika the administration came with all preparedness to face.
“The district administration has nicely managed to control zero human deaths during FANI by evacuating around thousands of people from the seaside area before 72 Hrs. The authorities also made people aware in a different way of the areas which were vulnerable and saved many lives”.
According to source, “Ganjam has learnt lessons from 1999 super cyclone in which around ten thousand persons perished. Of the 21 lives which Phailin claimed, 13 died in Ganjam district alone,”.
