ROUREKLA,02/12/18: Doctors of Ispat General Hospital(IGH) the biggest hospital of Rourkela run by RSP successfully saved life of a young boy, Pratyush Maharana (11), Son of Bidhan Cahndra Maharana of Rajgangpur who had met an accident on Kartika Purnima. An unknown vehicle hit him while he was riding a cycle coming home. He was badly injured and immediately taken to a nearby hospital but finding his condition critical he was referred to IGH. Immediately doctors on duty attended the patient, by that time the patient was unconscious, he was immediately shifted to ICU and kept in ventilator. On diagnosis they found he had a fractured bone in the right arm and injury on both sides of the lings with blood inside the thoriac cavity. A team of doctors comprised of Dr. N P Sahoo, Joint Director (Anesthesia), Dr.(Mrs.) Raj Laxmi Panda, Sr. Dy. Director (Anesthesia), Dr. R B Pattnaik, Sr. Dy. Director (Medicine), Dr. J P Sahoo, Specialist (Neuro Surgery) and nurses of ICU assisted to take care of the patient and intercostals drainage was provided on both sides to recover. Patient has regained his consciousness after 48 hours and was off the ventilation on 5th day of his admission to the hospital. This young boy is now stable and will be shifted to general ward soon. Then the surgery of the fractured bones will be carried out. Quick action ton save the patient by the doctors of IGH is praiseworthy which saved the precious life of a young boy.
