New Delhi / Bhubaneswar, February 21, 2019:Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) Shri Naveen Jindal was adjudged as the most valuable played in the finals of Maharaja JiwajiRaoScindia Gold Cup played on Sunday at Jaipur Polo Ground. He received the honour for scoring the finest goals of the finals, which changed the tides for team Jindal Panther, which lifted the Maharaja JiwajiRaoScindia Gold Cup 2019. 

“It is first time in 30 years that I have won the MVP and it feels great. All of it happened with God’s grace and his kindness, and also my pony’s speed,” said Shri Jindal after the win. 

Besides being a polo enthusiast, ShriJindla is also an accomplished sportsperson and. He is a National Record Holder in Skeet Shooting. The Indian Shooting Team, under his captaincy, won a Silver medal in the South Asian Federation Games, April 2004. He has also represented the country in the Asian games held in Busan, South Korea in 2002. 

Sri Naveen Jindal is also the Founding President of Flag Foundation of India and has fought a long legal battle for the rights of every Indian to fly the Tiranga, the Indian National Flag.

Koraput,21/02/19:Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty the Vice Chancellor of Central University of Orissa, Koraput has stepped down from his position on personal ground. He joined the CUO on 7 August 2015 after a distinguished service at the Central University of Hyderabad for more than 25 years.  

His resignation has been accepted by the Hon’ble President of India. Prof. Mohanty will hand over the charge to the senior most Professor of the University on 28.02.2019.  

The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohanty has thanked the University community, students, staffs and the faculty for their co-operation he received during his tenure at the Central University of Orissa, Koraput. He also thanks the University community for significant milestones like NAAC accreditation, functioning of two hostels for boys and girls, functioning of two computer centres, internal roads, high-mast lights, drainage system, 24 X 7 electricity and water supply, free Wi-fi temporary shopping complex, temporary gymnasium, badminton courts, parking complex, NANDANAM-park, beatification of the campus by tree plantation, MoU with HAL and COATS, formation of student council, successful entrance examinations in 22 centres, Distinguished Lecture series, formation of Poetry club, Drama club, NSS cell, UBA cell and ICC.  

Prof. Mohanty thanks the MHRD, UGC, state government, district administration and the people of Odisha for their cooperation and good wishes. He also wishes the CUO the very best in the coming years.

Koraput,21/02/19:Nandanik, a theatre group based in Koraput, Odisha organised a two day workshop on 6-7 February 2019 at its office in Koraput. The workshop was on 'Theatre Organisation'. The workshop was aimed at learning of procedures to run a theatre group and identifying the various avenues of resource mobilization for theatre artists and groups. 

Sourav Chattopadhyay, director of Kolkata based Theatre Workers Repertory was the principal resource person of this workshop. The young members of Nandanik who aspire to become full time theatre professionals took part in the workshop. The participants were trained to do documentation, maintain files, paperwork, preparation of projects for grants and scholarships etc. 

Ajaya Edding, a participant said, 'The workshop was very useful as it showed us the way to become economically self sufficient in Theatre.' Prof Sourav Gupta, creative director of Nandanik said, 'Nandanik's long term aim is to develop a few young theatre enthusiasts of Koraput into semi professional theatre artists if not fully professional and this workshop was a small step towards it.' 

Nandanik was established in 2014 in Koraput and has been constantly engaged in activities related to theatre learning, training & production.
