Bhubaneswar,26/05/19:The cultural evening of OM Kalinga Kala Parishad was held on 26th May 2019 on sunday evening at Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
An academy for odissi dance, music, instruments and fine arts, OM Kalinga Kala Parishad organised its 36th annual cultural evening where almost 50 students of the institute performed together. The Chief Guest and Guests of Honour were Sj. Bijay Kumar Nayak, I.A.S, Director, Odia Language Literature & Culture, Dr. Basant Kumar Das, Professor Psychology, Drama Director, and Prof. Chitrangada Samantasinghar, Ex- Principal, Rama Devi Women's College, Bhubaneswar respectively. The guests emphasied on the importance of dance and music for a peaceful mind. They prominently specified on the need for awareness of classical dance as a physical exercise and therapeutic values for reducing stress. The cultural secretary Dr. Aradhana Panigrahi welcome the august gathering. The director and founder principal, Guru Smt. Rashmi Mishra introduced the guests and gave a brief yearly report. Dr. Sudhanshu Mohan Tripathy, presided over the meeting. The evening also included felicitation of 4 young achievers of the state with the "Yuva Prgativa Samman-2019". The awardess were Dutee Chand, Sprinter, Olympic athlete, Master Naisargik Lenka, Environmentalist and Pradhan Mantri Bal Shakti Puraskar 2019 awardee, Gungun, Anchor and Actress, Odia Television and Films and Sujeet Paikaray, Actor, Odia Television and Films. The odissi dance and music items included Mangalacharan "Ganesh Bandana", Kalabati Pallavi, Geeta Gobinda "Lalita Labanga Lata', odissi dance drama "Tapaswini". The other dance items were 'baaje bainsi nache ghoogura', palli nrutya 'thekua' etc. The odissi vocal include Raga Saberi and Saja Kanja Nayana songs. Dance drama based on nature poet Late Gangadhar Meher's written "Tapaswini " was well-acclaimed by the dance connoisseurs. The audience was spellbound with all the performances presented by the institution. All the performances were composed and choreographed by Guru Smt. Rashmi Mishra and assisted by her daughter-disciple Dr. Aradhana Panigrahi. The event was well-organised by Shri Kamalakanta Panigrahi.
