Cuttack,13/11/18: Eminent Odia singer Chitta Jena breathed his last at a private hospital in Cuttack today morning.

His well known songs which people still remembers ‘Mo Priya Tharu Kiye’, ‘Rupa heithiba labanyabati, ‘Udi gala gendalia’ and ‘Ki Sundara Aaha Ki Aananda Maya’ are the ones that have captured the hearts of Odias.

Jena was born in the year 1941 and lent his voice for the first time in 1974 for the movie ‘Mana Akasha’ and was awarded with the prestigious ‘Prafulla Kar Samman’ by Prafulla Kar Foundation for his outstanding achievement in the field of music and lending voice to popular compositions.

Members of the Odia film fraternity have mourned the loss of the veteran singer.

“It is very difficult to believe that he left us. It is a big loss for us. He had an extraordinary voice,” eminent singer/composer Prafulla Kar said.

Speaking about Jena, Odia actor Mihir Das said, “He stood like a pillar for his family. His death leaves a void that cannot be filled. His memories will always remain with us.”
