ROURKELA:”JANMASTHAMI” is a big festival which is celebrated across India, epically in UP, Maharasthra, Uttarkhand, Bihar and Odisha. Lord Krishna took birth on this day which is celebrated by devotees of Lord Krishna(eighth avatar of Vihsnu). He is also known as Bala Gopal. Odisha is state of rich in festive rituals. Janmasthami is one among many big festivals we celebrate. Though Rourkela is a multilingual city, people celebrate Janamsthami with all joy and enthusiasm. Devotees have seen visiting Lord Bishnu, Jagarnnath and Krishna and Radha temples in Rourkela. Devotees have bought varieties of fruits and sweets to offer puja. Usually this puja is offered in the late evening; anyway devotees have celebrated throughout the day. Majorly three four temples are seen maximum devotees had darshans, i.e Jagarnnath temple at sector-3, Radha Krishna temple at Sector-14, Radha Krishna temple near Mousima temple, Ambagaon, Jagarnnath temple at Koelnagar, Jagarnnath temple at Jhirpani, Krishna temple in Rourkela and Civil Township. ISKON group has also celebrated this programme in a massive way in Kalyan Mandap, Koelnagar which was kick started in the morning with Bhajan and offering prayer to lord Krishna. They had programmes throughout the day and also have arranged Bhajan Sandhya in the evening with Prasad sevan. They also organized different essay and Dance competition on mythology and Lord Kirshna. ISKON organizations have been celebrating Janmasthami celebrations since last 10 years. They have 3 days celebration programme this time which will start from 2nd to 4th September. In this prorgrmme, Jual Oram ,Cabinet minister for Tribal Affairs has participated as Guest and many other leading personalities of Rourkela were also present including Subrat Tarai, MLA, Raghunathpalli. In various temples this festive celebration has been organizing for more than two decades. The entire area near celebration site was looking colourful with people wearing new dresses and carrying required items to offer Prasad to Lord Krishna.
