Talcher,21/11/18:NTPC Kaniha under CSR has undertaken water filter distribution to the students of Panchayat High School, Bijigol,Kaniha recently on 17/11/2018. The distribution was done in the august presence of Sh. P. K. Sahu, DGM(HR), Sh. A. K. Das, Senior Manager(HR), , Shri M. V. Rao, ES(HR) and school Headmaster, Shri Sanjay Kumar Dash & other respected teachers.
On this occasion, Chief Guest, Shri P. K. Sahu addressing the students emphasized upon the need of pure drinking water for our health and how the water filter distributed shall mitigate the health problems related to unclean water. 290 water filters were distributed to the students on this occasion.
Talcher,20/11/18:NTPC Talcher Kaniha under its CSR recently from 12th November 2018 to 16th November 2018 had organised an innovative initiative “YUVATI” programme. The programme was based on creating awareness among adolescent girls of High School of NTPC Kaniha project affected areas to maintain hygiene, know about menstrual cycle and its complexities; what to do and what to avoid, in addition the program stressed on how to develop the personality and grow as a person physically and psychologically .
This programme was held at Regional Learning Institute, NTPC Talcher Kaniha in the presence of Head of HR, K. S. Sarma, PVGV Srinivas, AGM(HR), P. K. Sahu, DGM(HR), Shri Jakir Khan, DGM(HR),MV Rao, ES(HR), Smt. Jyotsnarani Pradhan, Jr. Officer(HR) along with the faculties of Tanvi Consultancy Pvt. Ltd, Bhubaneswar, Mukteswar Patra and Mrs Arunima Patra.
Speaking on the occasion Sarma said “participants should implement the things they have learnt during the programme in real life which will bring a positive change".
Around 100 adolescent girls of 2 nearby high schools from Pabitra Mohan High School, Kaniha & Panchayat High School, Bijigol participated in the programme.
On the occasion sanitary pads were distributed as promotion of health & hygiene. Self defense training was also provided to the participants for their self defense.
Bhubaneswar,19/11/18:Xpressions, the management cultural fest of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, one of the biggest Management-Cultural fests across India, is a three-day extravaganza, which is scheduled to take place from 16th to 18th November 2018. After the grandeur of the first and second day, XIMB got ready to make the final day a success as well.
The day opened with Final Cut, the flagship event of IlluminatiX- the media and PR cell of XIMB, which was a short-film making competition.
The event witnessed enthralling entries and was won by ‘Spotlight’ presented by Team Virtual Show reel from ITER Bhubaneswar with a special mention awarded to ‘Saihatsu’, again from ITER. Thirkan, a group dance competition by X-Stage, the cultural committee of XIMB, which embraced the rhythm within and without.
The teams painted the theatre of dreams, leaving the crowd amazed. It captured the eyeballs and truly left us all in a trance with the team Inferno from FIEM crowned as winners and the team Might’s from IMI Bhubaneswar as the Runners-up. Zorb It Out, by IRC, the International Relations Committee, continued with participants flowing in to enjoy zorbing all day long. The Gaming committee of XIMB brought in its flagship management event, Jack of all Trades which comprised of a quiz, a case-study and a Business Simulation Game by Cesim. It was a national level competition structured to test participants’ cross functional expertise and holistic view towards real corporate world problems.
MAXIM, the marketing association, presented its flagship event MPower, which comprised of an online marketing quiz followed by case study competition, and, was won by the team Power Players from XIMB comprising of Aloknath Patra, Pratik Saraf and Abhishek Sahu, with Mettle Troppers from IIM Shillong being the runners-up. MAXIM Mela (Marketing Research Event), yet another event set up by MAXIM continued their unique market research in full swing with fun games structured on the theme of PUBG. X-Lens, the photography community of XIMB, presented Lensation, showcasing creativity captured in pictures. It brought both realistic as well as the imaginative thought process of the participants and received an overwhelming response from across various colleges. XQuizzite, the Knowledge and Quizzing committee, organized its flagship quizzing event, Inquizzitive, which was a quiz over general affairs. It was an intense competition of awareness finally won by Satwik Raut, Nishant Nihar and Bivash Rath with runners-up being Adarsh Mohapatra and Saransh Mohapatra.The much awaited event, Celeblitz, witnessed the riveting performance by the melody queen who has been ruling our hearts for last 23 years, Sunidhi Chauhan, who left the audience astounded and thrilled. With this 3-day extravaganza concluding at such a high note, XIMB promises to amaze Bhubaneswar again and keep the legacy going.

XIMB MUN, the UN Simulation Event by SpeakUp, the Oratory Club, continued the discussion wherein delegates were addressed on the critical differences between a moderated caucus and a General Speaker's List. AdValorem by X-Seed, the Entrepreneurship cell, continued testing the entrepreneurial acumen of undergraduates with Team Ohayo winning the competition and Team Paws being the runners-up. Zorb It Out, by IRC, the International Relations Committee, continued with participants flowing in to enjoy zorbing all day all.
MAXIM Mela (Marketing Research Event), the marketing fair by MAXIM, the Marketing committee continued their unique market research with a series of fun games structured of the most popular youth game, PUBG, and goodies being awarded to the winners. Goonj, the singing competition by XStage, the cultural committee saw the participants enthrall the audience with their mesmerizing voice. The event had two categories - Western extravaganza which was won by Shubojit Das while Galdwin was the runners-up, and Desi extravaganza which was won by Suchismita with Mrutyunjay as the runners-up.
SRC, the Social Responsibility Cell, organized Handicraft Stall wherein they displayed handmade greeting cards, gifts and other craft items made by our mess bhainas. This gives our mess bhainas an opportunity to showcase their talent. Vriddhi, A CSR Action Plan Competition by SRC, the Social Responsibility Cell, saw participants addressing and giving solutions for the grass-root problems of India. This competition was won by TeamSiksha with Team Doodles being the runners-up. Flight of Fancy, a Literary event by LitSoc, the Literary Committee, put the participants’ imagination to test to bring out their creativity.
Trade Wars, the trading simulation game by X-Fin, the Finance Association, gave the participants an opportunity to test their financial expertise by trading in various equities across major Indian stock markets. This game was won by Team Affluentia with the home team as the runners-up. Maven, a National Level Case Study Competition, by Constrat, the Consulting and Strategy Consortium gave the participants an opportunity to test their consulting and strategy skills against the best brains from across the country's finest business schools. Case-Connect, a National Level Case Study Competition, by X-Sys, the Systems Association, was an initiative to test different concepts the participants have learned in different streams of management and their application in designing innovative solutions. Team Sacred Sins won the competition with Team Radio Heads as the runners-up.
Vakritva is an SRC (Social Responsibility Cell) &SpeakUp (Oratory Club) Featured Event wherein the participants identified and gave constructive solutions for the various existing social problems of our country. Aarohan, the Operations Case Study competition by X-Ops, the operations committee gave the participants to show their skills in operations management. Team Deadly Duo won this competition with Team Sarthak as the runners-up. Jack of All Trades, a National Level Case Study & Simulation Game Competition, by the Gaming Committee, comprised of a Quiz, a Case-study and a Business Simulation Game by Cesim. It tested the cross functional expertise and holistic view towards real corporate world problems. Virasat, a Classical Competition by Spicmacay-XIMB Chapter provided a platform for the participants to showcase the Indian Legacy through Classical Dance, Classical Singing and Instrumentals.
The evening brought with it two of the power-packed, energy boosting performances – Decibelz and Moongphali. The audience witnessed intense and invigorating performances at the war of bands - Decibelz '18 which proved to be the craziest, wildest and the loudest event at Xpressions '18. Out to bring the city down with its unique sound and energy, Moongphali, the band that won Maruti Suzuki – Colors of Youth Season 7, mesmerized their audiences with melody, entertainment, and energy.

It captured the eyeballs and truly left us all in a trance with IIIT, Bhubaneshwar crowned as winners and XIMB as the Runners-up.Soon after XIMBMUN, A UN Simulation Event by SpeakUp, the Oratory Club, took center stage as we saw and experienced a variety of opinions and ideas pertaining to the current global scenarios, a much-awaited 2nd day is next. Nirnay(by X-Ops, the operations Committee) and Resonance (by X-Sys, the Systems Committee) are Online Simulation Game where the participants had to showcase their business acumen and feasibility. Resonance was won by Team Felina with Team Dothraki as the Runner-ups.IRC, the International Relations Committee conducted Zorb It Out, a unique quiz-cum-gaming event was a tie between Globtrotters and D Generation Z.
AdValorem byX-Seed, the Entrepreneurship cell, helped the participants test their entrepreneurial acumen. This was followed by Fincaso, a case study competition by X-Fin, which was won by team Affluentia from NMIMS and XIMB being the Runners-up. [email protected], an initiative by Spicmacay-XIMB Chapter brought out the creative side of the participants where Aanchal Priyadarshini, a student from DAV Public School was crowned as winner and Bharatendu Panda from XIMB was runners up.MAXIM Mela (Marketing Research Event), the marketing fair by MAXIM, the Marketing committee was an unique way of conducting market research. Sportscom Fantasy League grabbed all eyeballs, as it was a first for XIMB as well. The bidding initiative left all truly enthralled with their virtual experience in the sporting world.
CDV was definitely one of the highlights of Day 1 as everyone upped their glamour quotient and put on a strong performance in front of the ever-cheerful crowd. The evening began with an electrifying performance by Zephyrtone, the youngest electronic pop music duo. To end the night, we had a rib-tickling performance by Comedy Addafeaturing Gaurav Kapoor.
With the extravaganza beginning todayin the city of Bhubaneswar, the energy is high, and it seems that the waves of excitement are going to cause tremors unwitnessed in Bhubaneswar.
Bhubaneswar,14/11/18:Xavier School of Rural Management (XSRM) in collaborationwith The RM Alumni Committee of Xavier University, Bhubaneshwar (XUB) hosted its first ever leadership summit, XPectRM, on November 14th, 2018. The summit aimed to provide the students of Rural Management (RM) a comprehensive view on the wonders of the world of Rural Management, from rural inclusive finance, development policy and livelihood, rural marketing to social business and entrepreneurship.
Prof. Kajri Mishra, Dean, XSRM, along with Father E. A. Augustine, S.J., Registrar, XUB and Father Donald D. Silva, S.J., Director( Finance), inaugurated the summit by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The speakers for the day were Ratnesh Jha (Ex- Management Specialist, UNDP), Rajendra Narayan Mahapatra (Sr Programme Coordinator, Public Health Resource Network), Jayesh K Jain (Senior Technical Assistance Advisor, Regional Director Asia, Opportunity International), Tanwi Kumari (Principal Specialist – South East Asia and South Asia, Accion), PhaneendraDoddapaneni (National Product Manager, IndusInd Bank), Alok Pattanayak (KGFS Head – Odisha, IFMR Rural Channels and Services), Charudutta Panigrahi (Mentor, FIDR), Pratyush K Panda (VP and Head-Corporate Citizenship, ACC Ltd), Tapan Kumar Das (Co-Founder VP, Youth4Jobs Foundation), Ramesh C. Jena(Partner, MART), Rajarshi D. Sarkar (Zonal Head of East, Novo Nordisk India), Aditi Nanda (Director, Incture Technologies), Vasudevan Chinnathambi (Co-Founder, Ninjacart) and Lopamudra Mohanty (Business Strategist and Founder, Big Buddy World). They were presented with samplings as a token of appreciation.
Dravid, Co-Ordinator of RM Alumni Committee set the mood by stressing on the idea and intent that went behind the summit and how it focuses on Rural Management being a multisectoral, multidisciplinary and diverse field. Father E. A. Augustine, Registrar, XUB and Father Donald D. Silva, expressed their euphoria and congratulated the RM Alumni Committee for successfully organizing the first mega-event under XUBAA, Xavier University Bhubaneshwar’s Alumni Association and verbalized the need for such events that aims at extracting more and more knowledge from experiences of industry stalwarts, who are great leaders in their respective fields.
There were many a firsts in the summit with RMAX, Rural Manager’s Association of XSRM, awarding the ‘Scroll of Honour’, as a token of immense admiration to an alumnus who has made a mammoth contribution, recognized internationally and is a pioneer in the field of RM. Mr. Abhinash Sahu, Co-Ordinator of RMAX, quoted, “Since the inception of Rural Management, 21 batches of successful managers have passed out. All the coordinators of Core, functional and interest committees, unanimously decided on the nominations, and the results were finally dictated by the jury”. Mr. Pratyush Panda (Batch of 1995-96), was conferred the first ‘Scroll of Honour’. He is a jack of all trades, from being a marathoner to a policy advocate to currently being the Vice-President & Head, Corporate Citizenship, ACC Limited.
The first session focused on “Development Policy and Livelihood”, moderated by Prof. Satyendra Nath Mishra. Mr.Rajendra Narayan Mahapatra (Sr.Programme Coordinator, Public Health Resource Network) said, “The technology, the media and the research are the three guiding lights for the future of public sector health policy.” Mr.Ratnesh Jha (Independent Consultant, UNDP), voiced how “Sustainability Development Goals talks about 3P's –People,Planet and Profit in a sustainable manner” and Mr.Jayesh K Jain (Senior Technical Assistance Advisor, Regional Director Asia, Opportunity International) stated “We should take small steps towards sharing the equation of power to improve the outcomes of development.”
The second-panel discussion revolved around the ‘Social Business and Entrepreneurship’, moderated by Prof. Gautam Prateek. CharuduttaPanigrahi (Mentor, FIDR) conveyed, "To be an entrepreneur, you've to be childlike".Lopamudra Mohanty (Business Strategist and Founder, BigBuddyWorld) insisted, “Forany social enterprise, it is necessary for us to understand their requirements rather than we deciding what they want”. Tapan Kumar Das (Co-Founder VP, Youth4Jobs Foundation), stressed “At any point, we have to understand the ecosystem of our product or else we will lose interest and switch to other products and ultimately end up gaining nothing”. Pratyush K Panda (VP and Head-Corporate Citizenship, ACC Ltd)emphasized, “Today, we need to see an issue not only through the social lens but through multiple lenses before suggesting a solution”.
The third panel discussion centered on ‘Rural Inclusive Finance’, moderated by Prof. P.K. Mishra. All the panelists were esteemed alumni of XSRM. It had Mrs.Tanwi Kumari (Regional Manager – South East Asia and South Asia, Accion), spoke in lengths about "The need for rural people being educated about risks of keeping cash at home”. Mr.PhaneendraDoddapaneni (National Product Manager, IndusInd Bank) discussed, "How private sector is also putting focus on Microfinance."andMr. Alok Pattanayak (KGFS Head – Odisha, IFMRRural Channels and Services)explained, "Access cannot solve the purpose of inclusive finance".
The fourth panel discussion delved on ‘Rural Business Development & Marketing’, moderated by Prof. Indira Indibara. Rajarshi D. Sarkar (Zonal Head of East, Novo Nordisk India) expressed, “How the requirements of rural people are the same. They have money but their accessibility to resources is limited.”Ramesh C. Jena(Partner, MART) stated, “Haats are the nerves of rural economy and the primary producers produce should be marketed at the same level as the others”. Vasudevan Chinnathambi (Co-Founder, Ninjacart) enunciated, “The biggest problem we face today is the information barrier both on supply and demand side.”
All the sessions were followed by an interactive and enriching question - answer round, that helped the students of rural management clear their doubts regarding the intricacies of rural management. This event also marked the release of “Alohomora”,the annual magazine by RM Alumni Committee.All the guest speakers were presented with mementoes, as a token of gratitude. The conclave concluded with a vote of thanks by the coordinator of RM Alumni Committee.

The three days are packed with business simulation games, cultural activities, fun-filled games, art exhibitions, and much more. Taking a break from their hectic schedules, Xpressions offers its guests one of a kind experience to refresh and rejuvenate them.
Less than a week left as XIMB gears up to host one of the biggest Management-Cultural fest of India, Xpressions 2018, scheduled to be held from 16th to 18th November 2018.
The students of XIMB are therefore leaving no stone unturned in actively promoting the fest. As part of the promotion activity, the students organized a flash mob at Bhubaneswar’s biggest mall, Esplanade One on 10th November. The shoppers were taken by surprise when the students suddenly started dancing to the tunes of hit Bollywood numbers. Within minutes the mall came to a standstill and the audience grew many-folds, all trying to catch a glimpse of the performance. The enthusiasm and energy of the audience, as well as the students, made the flash mob a huge success.
As XIMB celebrates 21 years of Xpressions, the fest promises to be even grander this year. A live performance by Sunidhi Chauhan on Celeblitz, the Celebrity Night, a performance by the rising stars of Electronic pop music – Zephyrtone, and a Comedy night with Gaurav Kapoor, are some of the mega events of Xpressions 2018. The flash mob just gave a small glimpse of the extravaganza that awaits the capital city of Bhubaneswar.
Last year Xpressions had witnessed the ravishing performance by Farhan Akhtar. Performing for the very first time in Bhubaneswar, not just XIMBians, but also the whole of Bhubaneswar awaited his performance. It was a starry night, adding another feather to the cap of all the previous glorious Xpressions. To astound everyone again, XIMB promises of an even more entertaining evening this year. XIMB awaits to host Sunidhi Chauhan for the live performance on Celeblitz, the Celebrity Night. Just 4 more days left for the grand event to astonish the city of Bhubaneswar. Berhampur12/11/18: Sharing among human beings has existed since the earliest civilisation. Humans are hard-wired to share and be social animals. The barter system might have been the earliest form of sharing. From sharing content and media online, Internet has now enabled people to share physical things like homes, vehicles, appliances, furniture, etc with each other. Earlier, people preferred buying from big brands but are now considering pre-owned and refurbished options; people gradually looking at alternative options of sharing or renting a car only when required and people shares/unwanted/unused things could be used by someone who needs (through wall of kindness) these are few examples have now become mainstream and are a part of our daily lives. A sharing or collaborative consumption is a movement which is rapidly growing and will play a pivotal role in shaping our environment and economy.
There are a paradigm shift in idea of ‘me’ to gradually evolving to ‘we’, people are more willing to share, sharing economy applies to all walks of life like goods sharing, knowledge sharing, land sharing, transport sharing, space sharing and labour sharing are few examples. Some of the benefits of collaborative consumption are (1) ensures products are cycled and reused to its complete life cycle, thereby, reducing the effects on the environment, (2) offers economic benefits there by creating self-employment opportunities, (3) instilling trust amongst community members, (4) a desired lifestyle without burning a hole in your pocket, and (5) assets became a liability and owning became scarier (cutting down hyper consumption and wastage). Now time has come to create a sense of ‘sustainable consumption and lifestyle’ among the people to understand collaborative consumption and its benefits to environment and economy.
Youth for Social Development started month long campaign on the theme “Sharing Community”. On Green Action Week 2018 a college level workshop on Sustainable Consumption and Lifestyle sharing Community has been organised at Binayak Acharya College IQAC Cell Berhampur Odisha. More than 200 students participated and understand the concept of sharing community, best practices and benefits of Collaborative Consumption.
