Bhubaneswar,25/10/19:Xavier University, Bhubaneswar (XUB) is, for the first time, organizing TEDxXUB, where x = independently organized TED event. The event, which is scheduled on 26 October 2019, will witness participation of various stakeholders of the Xavier fraternity, including students from the diverse schools operating under XUB.
The theme for the event is “Mind and Matter”. It focuses on how the internal and external forces blend to shape one's life. "Mind" talks about identifying and confronting the internal factors, while "Matter" focuses on the external factors. Mental health, which is relevant for every individual, is often influenced by these factors. Mental health refers to our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, and is influenced by how we interact and react to our environment. Addressing it is the need of the hour, especially in a B-school, where it is common for mental health issues to manifest. There are two perspectives through which it will be addressed – “Mind over Matter” and “Matter over Mind”.
The topics that will be covered under Mind over Matter are“Navigating Conflict Inside to Build Peace on the Outside”and “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder”. The topics that will be covered under Matter over Mind are“Rewilding the Human Body” and “Understanding and Creating One’s True Self in the Contemporary World”.
The event will host four esteemed speakers who will be discussing the above-mentioned topics. The speakers include:General Bikram Singh, PVSM,SM,VSM,ADC , is a retired Indian army officer who served as the 25th Chief of Army staff (COAS) of the Indian Army. He was previously the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the army'S Eastern Command and the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee (CoSC) of the Indian Armed Forceps’s. Bhavya Arora is a mental health professional, trainer, and an internationally trained psychotherapist from California and Netherlands. She currently works as a Training and Development Coordinator at AFS Intercultural Programs India.Dr. Amrit Pattojoshi is a professional psychiatrist who has played a pivotal role in improving the health and well-being of several patients facing mental challenges. He has often been invited as a panelist in seminars centred around issues of self-harm and self-injury patterns amidst the youth.Ms. Dimple Parmar is the Founder and CEO of Love Heals Cancer and ZenOnco.io. She has dedicated her life to helping cancer patients. For her revolutionary work, she has been awarded the "Top 100 Healthcare Leader award" by the International Forum of Advancement in Healthcare. She has also featured in popular media like YourStory, Mumbai Mid Day, and Rajasthan Patrika.
