Report;Bureau,Odishabarta

Dhenkanal,29/04/19: Special training programme based on hands-on activities for the journalism students of Odisha State Open University (OSOU), Sambalpur has started at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Dhenkanal. The five-day special training programme starting from 29th April to 3rd May was inaugurated by the Regional Director of IIMC Eastern India Campus Prof Dr. Mrinal Chatterjee here on Monday.

On the inaugural occasion, Prof Dr. Chatterjee emphasised on the importance of hands-on training for journalism students as mass media professionals require practical experience and knowledge more than theoretical information. He pledged to further improve the training programmes for OSOU, Sambalpur students and make sure that the students get enough opportunity to learn from the facilities available at IIMC. He also said that it is a mandate of a national institute to cater to reach each and every individual who is willing to learn.

IIMC has been organizing such training programmes for OSOU students since 2016. More than 350 journalism and mass communication students from OSOU have been trained by the premier media institution since then. OSOU is the only Open University in the country, which is providing a special hands-on training programme to its students. As many as 22 students from different parts of the state, pursuing diploma and degree courses in journalism, participated in this session.
