Beguniapada (Ganjam),01/05/19: Protesting liquor sale and alleging inaction by the concerned authorities, women of Sumandaal Panchayats under Kodola Police limits in the district here took to the streets today.
The women alleged that despite repeated appeals to the district administration to take measures to shut the liquor outlets and check illegal sale of alcohol in the area, their voices fell on deaf ears.
Sloganeering against illicit trade of liquor, hundreds of agitating women blocked the Old Baniabadi,Angaragaon,Sumandal and Vejiput road by burning tyres. They also staged demonstration in front of the house of the liquor trader of the village and finally the irritate females set fire to the shop of Sova Wines.
“Even after repeatedly raising voices against the illegal liquor sale in the village, no concrete steps have been taken by the local administration Notably 15 days back the Villagers all given a demand chart to the Collector,Supt.Excise,SP,Ganjam.Three police platoon were deployed on spot.
The females alleged that Male members of our family come home drunk and fight with us,” “Youths and even educated people of the village are gradually getting habituated to consume liquor.”
Keeping in view of law and order Tahasildar,Mr Prabhat Parida,IIC Kodola,Mr Dillip Kumar Sahu,OIC Beguniapada OP Mr Dipti R Behera and Excise Inspector Ms Nabasmita Nayak were present at Demonstration spot.
“After lodging complaints with the local administration several times, traders engaged in liquor sale on the other hand Police failed to arrest those illegal vendors.
Meanwhile, the officials of district administration are yet to comment on the matter. but the SDPO,Nimai Charan Sethy,Thesildar Ashok Tripathy reached on spot and tried to convince those Female demonstrators but failed.
Road Blockade continue till late evening. All the Bus communication through this root is totally disrupted.
An intellectual of the Blocks says, there must be Nexus in between the Vendors- Excise authority - Police and under the umbrella of BJD Block leaders.

Ganapati,30/04/19:Gajapati’s superintendent of police Sarah Sharma said the landmine was recovered from under in Dhepaguda Jungle under Adaba police station area.
Ms Sarah Sharma,SP ,Gajapati intimated that based on intelligence input regarding the movement of a small group of Maoist in Dhepaguda - Kandhaba- Balaiganda area villagers under Adava PS limit, an area domination operation was planned in the bottomless forest of Dhepaguda in order to neutralise the Maoists means in these areas.
All total 22 DVFs and one Cop Mr Lalait Mohan Sagar of Mohona PS were utilised to conduct area domination. They ascertained the operation plan was made accordingly with experts, Officer in charge of DIOC,Gajapati under the direct supervision Ms Sarah Sharma,SP,Gajapati.
SP,Gajapati informed to Press that, on 29th (Monday) at about 8.45 PM our operational party proceeded for to identify the Anti-Naxal operation exactly or not (?). On 30/04/19 (Tuesday) at about 6 AM the operational team detected two nos of Landmine weighing approx 50 Kgs (35 Kg and 15 Kg ) In the jungle of Dhepaguda.
Immediately the operational team informed to the SP,Gajapati about their script data. Accordingly the IIC Adava instructed to rush to the spot along with the Bomb disposal team with immediate effect .
While interacted with the SP,Gajapati,Ms Sharma she said,”I also reached to the spot by taking all precautions and both the bombs were defused in jungle by the bomb disposal team in presence and the Mohona PS were utilised to conduct.
“Regular area domination exercises are being carried out in the affected areas in close coordination with local administration. We have been instrumental in containing the Maoist menace to a large extent,” said Sarah Sharma.
Mr Yatindra Koyal,IG (SR) appreciate the success of Gajapati Police and issued instruction to all the superintendents of police under the Southern range of the Maoist-affected districts to remain on alert.

In a revenge full challenge by the group members of Manoj Behera to take their “Badla” to finish Chiku @ Laxmi Narayn Muni.
They properly designed a sketch and planned to commit a Major crime in city.
However, timely police action has be initiated by Town PS staff lead by SDPO,Bishnu Pati and Mrs Santoshi Oram,IIC,Town.
In a telephonic discussion the SDPO said, a possible group clash was escalating in Bijipur area on Friday which we have thwarted. Actually as they were assaulted, So they made this design and attempt to kill chiku Muni of Kalua Street of Bijipur locality on 24.02.2019 evening at ambika nagar,Berhampur.
Soon we reach at spot our police team could able to avoid a major crime in city. He added.
The arrested persons are identified as Manoj Behera @Akra,Kartika Behera and Sankara Behera of Bijipur Area were arrested on Saturday.

Ganjam,26/04/19:The mother of a seven years girl allegedly that one elder handicapped person named Bhaskar Nahak (45) of village Sipakuda of her neighbouring house called her daughter to his house in pretext of asking her drinkinking water and sexually ill-treatment her seven years daughter on 25th April (Thursday) at about 4.45 PM while she was busy in her household works.
Mr Utkal Keshari Das,SDPO,Chatrapur reported while the family members searching their daughter (The minor girl), the family members spotted her with Bhaskar Nahak. it came to light after the minor girl’s family lodged a complaint with Rambha police.
In connection Rambha Police registered a case no-78/19 u/s 376,AB,IPC/6 pocso act and the accused and victim both sent for necessary medical examination. And the accuse forwadred to the Court.

Aska, (Ganjam)26/04/19:In a dramatic turn of episode, Aska Police today rescued a contractor with his office assistant those allegedly abducted on Gunpoint from Alipur village around 08:00PM in Ganjam district yesterday. The contractor Prasanna Gouda and his associate Kalu Jena were rescued from Putibadi-Pathara road.
Earlier, the family members of Gouda had lodged a police complaint in connection with the mishap.
According Mr Pitabas Durua,IIC,Aksa, four miscreants had allegedly kidnapped the contractor and his associate at gun point near Alipur village when the duo was returning home after finishing work last night.
Now a police probe is underway as there is no clarity about the motive behind the screen of abduction of the contractor and his associate. Besides, there is no coherence in the statements of Gouda and Jena, IIC Durua said.
Meanwhile, the duo has been taken to the police custody for questioning to elicit information under what circumstances they were kidnapped.

According to,Bishnu Pati,SDPO(City) to press that on 13.4.2019 Laxminarayan Muni has thrown live bomb to Manoj Behera @Akara at Ambikanagar causing injury due to previous grudge and absconded.
Acting in action the Town,PS,IIC,Ms Santoshi Muni,IIC,BN Pur,Sarada Prasanna Das and tem able to arrest the miscreant in last late night in a hidden place of the city.
Two more bombs have also been recovered from his possession.SDPO,Pati said.

Berhampur,21/04/19: In a gruesome act, a youth was thrashed to death by a group of people last night in village,Badadumula under Gopalpur police limit in Berhampur police district.
The victim, identified as Susant, was assaulted with high power bombs as he was watching TV at his home.
Villagers says four miscreants came by two wheeler and their face is covered by Masks to the house of Sushnat and by throwing bomb they flee from spot at around 9 PM on Saturday.
Getting the information Mr Pinak Mishra, SP, Berhampur, Mr Prabhat Routray,ASP,Mr JK Mohapatra,SDPO and Gopalpur police team rush to the spot .

Ganjam,(Beguniapada),19/04/19: Soon after the Election is over the women’s of Sumandal Panchayat under Beguniapada have taken to streets and staged a blockade in the main road in a protest to the rise in the sale of illegal liquor in Sumandal Village and other part of Beguniupada Block in Ganjam. They protested against the alleged inaction of the police authorities, District authorities in putting a check to the illegal trade which led to a spurt of crimes and other anti-social activities in the area.
As per the protesters, they had repeated complained about this fact in the police but no action was taken by the police to put a stop to it.
“We have been protesting against the illegal business of liquor in the village .“If the authorities do not take any strong step to stop this liquor business here, the protest will continue and we would block this road for an indefinite period,” he further added.
Several villagers including women and children had joined in the protest and staged a demonstration against the illicit liquor trade in the area.
