Puri,16/07/19:Police on Tuesday arrested six persons including the prime accused in connection with the brutal murder of three persons at Patnaikia Square in Sakhigopal police jurisdiction in Puri district on Sunday.
Based on the statement of the deceased family members, police had registered a case and initiated a probe into the matter.
During the investigation, it was ascertained that the incident was the fallout of past enmity.
Three persons including two brothers of former sarpanch of Sadanandpur, Ajay Behera were brutally hacked to death by miscreants in broad daylight near Pattnaikiya Chhak on Cuttack-Puri National Highway on Sunday. Following an investigation, police have detained four persons in this connection.
The bodies of the deceased- Krushna Behera, Purna Behera and Panchu Behera of Sadanadapur were handed over to their families after post mortem. However, three platoons of police forces have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident with markets and shops still shut due to outrage by the locals.
“Prior to this, the same persons had attacked me and other members of my family during Satasankha Melana. I was harassed by them. I had even lodged a complaint at the Satyabadi police station. There was a threat to my husband’s life and I begged before them to help me. Police then assured me that they will look into it,” said wife of one of the deceased.
Meanwhile, Puri SP Umashankar Das has claimed family feud over land dispute as the reason behind the gruesome murders.
“All the accused directly involved in the murder or been a part of the conspiracy, have been identified. We have detained four persons so far and interrogating them. All the accused will be arrested soon,” said Das.
“Yesterday’s incident cannot be tagged as a triple murder. It was rather an outcome of a family feud due to land dispute. There have been instances of scuffle in the family earlier, which took a violent turn yesterday,” added the SP.
Berhampur,16/07/19:Two minor boy were apprehended before the IIC Hinjili Police station Mr.Abhimanyu Das.
During police interrogation the duo confessed that they have committed theft on 13.7.19 night by breaking the lock of shops at Vegetable market Hinjili and manage to taken away cash of Rs-33240/- from two commercial shops , one book store and one grocery shop.

In connection police registered a case and both are produced before the court.
Kendrapara,15/07/19:A youth was arrested for allegedly circulating the intimate videos and photographs of his girlfriend through WhatsApp in Pattamundai area of Kendrapara district.
The matter came to light after police arrested the accused, identified as Soumya Ranjan Sahu. He was sent to judicial custody after the rejection of his bail petition.
According to police, the accused developed an affair with the victim while they were studying in high school. As the youth the failed in the Plus II examination, he went to Bangalore for work. On the other hand, the girl continued her study.
During the course of their relationship, the youth took the girl to various places and kept physical relation with her on multiple occasions. The youth also clandestinely captured the videos of their intimate moment in his phone.
Meanwhile, the youth proposed the girl for marriage which she rejected. Angry over the rejection, the youth sent the video of their intimate moments to the girl’s maternal uncle and his friends through WhatsApp.
When the girl’s father learnt about the viral video, he lodged a complaint with Pattamundai police. Acting on the complaint, inspector-in-charge Rakesh Kumar Tripathy inquired into the matter and arrested the accused youth.
The police seized the cellphone of the youth containing the obscene videos and photographs and a CD from his house. A case has been registered and the accused has been sent to jail.
Bargarh,14/07/19: A forest official among three fake Maoists was arrested on charges of extortion here in the district today.
He was identified as Batakrushna Sethi, posted as the deputy ranger of Sambalpur zone. Two others, who were arrested along with the official, were Dala Gobinda Sahu and Balaram Sahoo, the siblings.
According to reports, the three were threatening the rich persons and extorting money from them by impersonating as Maoists.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Bhatli police conducted raids at various locations in Bargarh today and nabbed three. They also seized Rs 1.65 lakh cash, 3 mobile phones and two bikes from possession of the accused persons.
The three had been extorting huge amount of cash from reputed contractors and businessmen in the past four years by posing as Maoists. They were calling upon the people and threatening them, informed Bargarh SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo.
A trap was laid to catch the fake Maoists after receiving information against them from various sources, he added.
Puri,14/07/19:Three people, including two brothers, were brutally murdered by unknown miscreants at Patnaikia Square in Sakhigopal police jurisdiction in Puri district on Sunday.
The incident took place in the evening. The identities of the deceased were not immediately ascertained. It is suspected that the murders were a fallout of past enmity.
Upon being informed, police rushed to the spot and seized the bodies. The police have launched a probe into the matter and inspected the area.
Following the murders, tension erupted in the area. The angry mob blocked the Puri-Patnaikia road disrupting vehicular movement on the route
As the murders occurred a few metres away from the Bhubaneswar-Puri main road, it disrupted the vehicular movement on the route. Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road.
Notably, the rituals of offering Adhara Pana to the deities on chariots conducted in Puri today and lakhs of devotees visited the pilgrim city. Although adequate security arrangements have been made for the occasion, the triple murder has raised a question on the security.
Berhampur,13/07/19:An accused in a case escaped from the police custody from Town Police station,Berhampur.
The incident took place on 22/06/19 when the accused was arrested by Town PS,Berhampur against a case of Berhampur Sadar police station vide the case 121/19.
The accused person was identified as Md Imran of Bank colony area of city.
Imran the accused who was arrested by City Cop in a attack case to one Kedar Gantayat of Bank colony, Berhampur.
According to SDPO (Town) Mr BP Pati that on the requisition of Sadar Police to Berhampur Town IIC arrested accuse Md Imran, but taking the advantage with some plea he escape from the Varanda of Town Police Station.
In connection Town Police registered a case against Imran Case No- 118/19.
IIC Berhampur Town Police Ms.Santoshi Oram and her team chased him at Biju Patnaik Park on Friday and arrested on spot.

Tahasildar, Deogaon Tahasil, Dist-Bolangir (Class-II) for demanding bribe of Rs.20,000/-from the Complainant Sri Biren Dalei, S/o Gokula Dalei, Vill-Sagarpali, P.S.- Deogaon, Dist-Bolangir to issue Transit Pass Books(Y-Form) for transportation of sand from the Government lease source, as the Complt. is a lease holder of Deogaon Tahasil vide Sairat Case No.5/2015-16.
A trap was laid on 12.07.2019. At about 12.15 P.M. accused Sri Rajendra Choudhury,ORS, Addl. Tahasildar, Deogaon Tahasil, Dist-Bolangir was caught red handed by the Vigilance team while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.20,000/-from the Complainant in his office room at Tahasil Office, Deogao, Dist-Bolangir. The bribe money of Rs.20,000/- was recovered from the possession of the accused and seized in presence of the witnesses.
The accused Sri Rajendra Choudhury,ORS, Addl. Tahasildar, Deogaon Tahasil, Dist-Bolangir has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Bolangie.
Berhampur,11/07/19:On the allegation of acquisition of assets Disproportionate to the known source of income by Ushanta Sahu, Sarpanch, Ankorada GP, Digapahandi Block, Dist-Ganjam, his (1) The double storied residential building at Niladri Bihar, 2nd lane, Anchala Colony, Digapahandi, District- Ganjam stands in the name of Smt. Sukanti Sahu, wife (2) The residential triple storied building under construction in Digapahandi NAC area near Punjikayan Chhaka in the name SO (3) The tin roofed garage at Podamari Road, Digapahandi NAC, (4) The single storied building situated at village Rajpur, Aska Road in the name of son Sagar Sahu, (5) office chamber in the office of Sarpanch, Ankorada GP, Digapahandi Block, Dist-Ganjam and (6) double storied building at native village Nabarangapur were simultaneously searched .
On 10.07.2019 by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division on the strength of search warrant issued by Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur in Misc. Case No. 01/2019.In course of search and inventory Ushanta Sahu, Sarpanch was found in possession of assets worth Rs.1,49,04,543/- including 03 nos. of buildings, 12 nos. of Plots, bank deposit of Rs.28,79,558/-, 02 nos. of four wheelers, gold and silver ornaments, cash and costly household articles.
search, inventory and further enquiry the income, expenditure and assets of Sri Sahu was calculated and he was found in possession of assets is proportionate to his known source of income to the tune of Rs.1,54,56,643/-. Ushanta Sahu, Sarpanch, Ankorada GP was found in possession of such huge disproportionate assets amounting more than 1.5 Crores, which he could not account for satisfactorily. Berhampur Vigilance P.S.Case No. 16 dt.11.07.2019 has been registered against Sri Sahu and his wife U/s 13 (2) r/w 13 91) (b) /12 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 for detail investigation.
In course of investigation, today i.e. on 11.07.2019 Sri Sahu has been arrested and being forwarded to the Hon'ble Court of Spl.Judge, Vigilance, Berhampur.Separate FIR has been submitted to the IIC, Digapahandi PS, Dist-Ganjam for possession of unlicensed automatic (pistol) fire arm and 06 nos. of live ammunitions found from the possession of Sri Sahu during house search.
Investigation of the case is in progress.
