GROUP OF GAMBELER ATTACK DURING RAID IN BERHAMPUR CITY

Berhampur,05/10/19:Throwing an open challenge, a group of gamblers attacked  police personnel at Khanjapadia Street in Lochapada under Sadar police limits on the city around13 Hrs when the police team had gone to the spot for a raid. Most surprisingly they attacked one police sub inspector who was injured. 

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a raid on a gambling den at Khanjapadia Street last night. Seeing the cops, the anti-socials attacked them. One of them also bit SI, of Police  Bibhuti critically. 

They pelted stone to police and a large number of  miscreants came with lathi and vandalised the police vehicle during the confrontation. 

 However, the police team overpowered the gamblers and arrested 11 persons. They were identified as Mahendra Sahu (24),Ganesh Sahu(35),Mahesh Sahu(18+),Brundaban Behera(34),Deepak Sahu(25),Manoj Kumar Sahu(36),Srihari Patro(26),Hina Sahu(25),Muralidhar Sahu(30),Kuna Sethy(21),and Santosh Pradhan(27). 

Stating to press IIC Sadar PS  Mrs Santoshini Oram told,” We have seized 104 nos of playing Cards, Cash of Rs.8770/- 5 nos Lathi,4 nos of heavy stones7 nos Mobile Phones” from their possessions and further investigation is on in this connection.” 

It may be mentioned here last night Berhampur Town Police conducted a raid a major gambling in city with good amount of recovery from Hotel Moti. 

Sadar police registered a case u/s 147/148/341/323/324/307/506/353/332/427/294/149 ipc/ sec 3 of OPG Act/ sec 3 of PDPP Act against 11 persons . 

Some legal experts commented police should register two separate case in this regard like OPG and second is attacking to Cop by miscreants while they are in duty with uniform. Otherwise there is every possibility they may comfortably release  on bail as both the cases are registered in one single case (?).

Berhampur,05/10/19:On Friday night Berhampur Town Police   raided a gambling den at Hotel Moti and arrested four persons. 

The police team led by SDPO,(City) Mr BP Pati and inspector-in-charge Town, Mr Suresh Tripathy carried out the surprise raid and nabbed four persons. 

Acting on a tip-off a police team carried out the raid on the gambling den operating at Hotel Moti Room No-603 in Berhampur City. The police seized Rs 66,000/- hard cash from the possession of the arrested persons. 

The arrested persons identified as Manoj Sahu (34) of 1st Gate,Tarini Charan Sethy (27) of Panigrahipentha,Santosh Ku Sahu (34) of Kalupatra Sahi all of Badabazar PS and Niraj Ku Mishra of Godabarish Nagar under B N Pur PS. 

However to monitor all such kind of token crime and keeping in view of  Kumar Purnima SP Berhampur Mr Pinak Mishra introduced rapid raid steps and constituted random Bike patrolling. They instructed to more vigilant of the gamblers.

FIVE MORE ARRESTED IN GANJAM WITCHCRAFT VIOLENCE

Berhampur:Police have arrested five more persons in witchcraft-related violence where a group of people from Gopapur village had assaulted six persons and forced them to eat human excreta. 

Sources said,earlier the police had arrested 29 persons, including 22 women for their involvement in the incident. 

Tensions had gripped Gopapur two weeks ago after some villagers suddenly fell sick and three of them died. The villagers suspected some sorcery practitioners behind the ailments and deaths. 

Later, the irate villagers called up a sorcerer to identify the alleged witchcraft practitioners. Based on details given by the sorcerer, the villagers had tortured the victims. 

The victims, all men over 60 years, are undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

 

CROREPATI WOMAN CITY SCHOOL TEACHER UNDER VIGILANCE NET

Bhuabneswar,03/10/19: Vigilance sleuths today raided the houses of a woman teacher of CT School at Unit-6 here on charges of amassing property disproportionate to her known sources of income. 

Reportedly, separate teams of the anti-graft conducted the raid simultaneously at three places associated with Assistant Teacher Tilottama Mohanty. The three places included her Government quarters at Gopabandhu Chhak here. Tilottama’s husband is an LIC agent. 

During the search, the Vigilance teams detected nine plots, two residential buildings and assets worth over Rs 1 crore in possession of the woman teacher. However, the exact amount of disproportionate property that the woman teacher has possessed will be ascertained after completion of the raids, said a Vigilance official.

Berhampur,03/10/19: A. Laxmi Prasad Rao, Ex- Senior Assistant (Retired),  re-engaged as Office Assistant on contractual basis, Berhampur Municipal Corporation,(BeMC) has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.25,000/- from complainant Sri Nilanchala Sahu of Prem Nagar, Berhampur, in order to process the file for re-allotment of Municipality shop in his favour. 

Accordingly, a trap was laid on 3.10.2019 at evening hours, Accused  A. Laxmi Prasad Rao, Contractual Senior Assistant was caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division in front of Pidha Hotel, Berhampur while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.25,000/- from complainant Sri Sahu. The bribe money was recovered and seized in presence of witnesses.

 His both hands wash gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. His Government quarter at Prem Nager, Berhampur and house at native village- Kularsingh, under Puroshottampur, limit, Ganjam are being searched. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.

MAN ARRESTED FOR POSING AS POLICE OFFICER IN BERHAMPUR

Berhampur,02/10/19:Today the Gosaninuagaon police, Berhampur  arrested a man for posing as a police officer from Karnataka in this city. 

The man identified as Sikandar Ali (36)Hardik Kaushik Hussaini Colony, P.S. Gandhi Ganj, Dist. Bidar (Karnataka) is arrested in connection with Gosaninuagaon PS Case No. 69/19 u/s 392 IPC. 

A press conference held today at Gosaninuagaon Police station by ASP,Mr Prabhat Routray and SDPO,(City) Mr BP Pati. They told to scribes, during our  interrogation the  person who admitted  himself posing  as police Officer  and used to snatch gold ornaments from the aged person in different areas of Berhampur.He is involved in series of gold snatching cases in Berhampur also in  other places like Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak,Cuttack , Bhubaneswar and also in other states.

“MISSING yaa ABDUCTED” (?)

Berhampur,30/09/19:A student of a Private College,Berhampur allegedly missing from college hostel on last Thursday at about evening hour.

The missing student has been identified as Sidhartha Sahu, Plus two,2nd year student. 

In connection a complaint has been lodged by his father Narayan Sahu at Sadar Police station. 

 In receipt  Mrs.Santoshi Oram,IIC Sadar with her team rush to the spot for field inspection. 

When the police team visited and started investigation by questioning four Teaching staffs were called by IIC to Police station for further interrogation subsequently found guilty than forwarded to court. 

Narayan Sahu (Father) told to this correspondent, “Sidhartha was physically assaulted by some faculty members. When I noticed about the missing of my Son I appeal with folded hand before the management and requested to cooperate to search my son from the management side”. I mention in my FIR. 

The faculties are namely as;Jitu Bhatt,Sujit Das,Ajit Das and Chinmaya Padhy. 

 Notably, the missing Sahu a student of Aryan Gurkul,Bhabinipur and the hostel is situated in a isolated place the outskirts of the Berhampur City. In this context, we tried to contact the management over cell but they avoid the calls(!). 

This afternoon IIC Mrs.Oram told to this office still the investigation is ON, Since the case was under investigation please wait and let you know  (?).However a case has been registered at Sadar police station vide the case No- 250/19.

JUNAGARH GANGRAPE CASE – TURNED AFTER VICTIM STATEMENT

 KALAHANDI,28/09/19:The sensitive gang rape case turned in a twist. The driver who was the only eye witness of the said case during investigation, became the main accused after the statement of the victim. Junagarh police arrested the said witness Lalindra Sabar today i.e. on sature day after taken statement from the victim. Friday on a media statement the victim told that Lalindra Sabar who had given a lift by his bike is the main culprit in this case and committed rape first being the part of gang rape. He was talking with mobile while they were coming from Bhawanipatna towards Junagarh and Lalindra stopped his bike near Banamalipur on NH26 and she was kidnapped by the accused persons, and she demanded his punishment. if Lalindra will be escaped then she will suicide, she added in her media statement. The said media statement became viral in social media and heated up the political atmosphere. 

Addressing the press the BJP state Secretary Lekhasri Samantasinghar alleged the involvement of rulling BJD leaders in this case. She alleged that the Junagarh MLA and Minister shielding the perime accused in the case. The prime accused Lalindra who gave lift to the victim, happens to be the driver of Subhadra Bus owned by Prabodh rath, the Kalahandi district working President and Prabodh Rath was the chief Coordinator for the last Junagarh Assembly election. However the minister terms the BJP allegations as baseless. It is a sensitive issue and shouldnot be politicized.Police will take proper action in this matter, he added. 

Junagarh police recorded victim”s statement under 161 Cr.P.C. and accordingly arrested Lalindra Sabar and forwarded to court. 

On Thursday junagarh police had forwarded the accused persons Amit Naik(30), [email protected] Prakash Naik(22), Santa Naik(24), Labanya Chhatria(21), Aniruddha Chhatria (22) to the court and one minor forwarded to the Juvenile justice board in gang rape case said SP Kalahandi. Accused persons [email protected] Binod Naik(32) Tikamani Podh (32) and Swayambar bag (30) were forwarded to court liable under IT Act for making the video viral, SP added.
