Bhubaneswar,17/10/19:On the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets by Binaya Kumar Subudhi, Executive Engineer, Minor Irrigation, Nayagarh. The Vigilance sleuths raided houses and office.
Acting upon a complaint, a joint team of anti-corruption bureau officials from Bhubaneswar and Berhampur conducted simultaneous raids at eight places including Subudhi’s government quarters and house in Bhubaneswar and office in Nayagarh.
During the raid, the sleuths verified various important documents including bank passbooks, land records and insurance policies.
However the official sources said, the Vigilance Cell Division raids at eight places on the strength of Search warrants issued by the Special Judge Vigilance, Bhubaneswar -1) Residential house at Bhimtangi Housing Board Colony, Bhubaneswar, 2) Office Chamber at Nayagarh, 3) Residential Govt Quarters at Nayagarh4) Flat at Officers Enclave Mouza Damodarpatna, Bhubaneswar 5) Flat at Divine Mansion, Harchandisahi, Puri 6) Flat at Stalwart Prabhabati Mansion, Jagamara, Bhubaneswar 7) Paternal house located at Berhampur and 8) in-law's house at Berhampur.
While the raid was underway till this report was being filed, the exact amount of seized disproportionate asset will be made public once it gets completed, said a source.
Khurda,17/10/19:Sub-Inspector (SI) of Khurda district police station, Banamali Nayak has been sent on compulsory retirement for several corruption charges.
According to SP,Khurda,Mr AP.Swain, two vigilance cases among the total nine cases are pending against the Sub Inspector and notably Nayak had five more years of service left, SP added.
The Odisha Government has issued a circular on premature retirement plan to weed out officers and employees with doubtful integrity.
Paralakhemundi:One Srihari Pradhan local news Reporter who collecting news near a liquor shop was attacked by the owners of shop.
According to ASP Sitaram Satapathy, Pradhan was collecting news at a liquor shop near TO Office. Immediately Shop owners Jitendra Mahankuda and Peasant Pradhan rushed near him & threatened to go back from spot (!).
He returned back home but around 10 pm night while Pradhan was returning he was vehemently attacked by one Kora Mahankuda and Arun Mahankuda severely.
However,with the help of locals he was admitted in local hospital.Report says, he was still not recovered by seeing his grave injury he was referred to MKCG-MCH, Berhampur.
After detailed enquiryby IIC,Mohona Mr Sujit Nayak arrested Kora Mahankuda, Arun Mahankuda, Jitendra Mahankuda and Peasant Kumar Pradhan.
Still the inquiry is ON said IIC,Sujit.
Rayagada,16/10/19:Maoist banners, posters and leaflets have been found near Deokupuli chowk under Muniguda Police Station. Though the police lately took these out from the place as wires suspected to be connected to detonators and mines, this has become a real challenge for the police.
The Maoist posters and banners put up by CPI(Maoist), Odisha State Committee for the first time at this junction have resisted fascism in the government and demanded to take out the CRPF camp from Trilochanpur gram panchayat office and to stop killing Maoist revolutionaries in fake encounters. They have requested to make Odisha and Chhatisgarh bandh on October 25. The posters also demanded to contain atrocities in Kashmir and Lanjigarh midnight arrests.
Police has kept vigil on the situation and the investigation is under process.
Rayagada,16/10/19: Based on credible information that on 12.10.2019 evening accused person Ganapati Patika with his wife and other accused persons went to different villages of Chandrapur area and collected Ganja at low cost. Then, on 13/10/2019 at about 9.00 AM, when the accused persons were returning to Gudari from Chandrapur, driving on a Bolero Pick up van bearing Regd No. OD-18-F 2263 in which 224.350 Kg. Ganja packed in four white colour jery bags, the team of Guduri Police caught them red handed with bulk Ganja in conscious and exclusive possession of accused persons. From further verification it is established that all the five accused persons including two other state accused Dass and Santial brought the contraband ganja from Chandrapur area for transportation /sale in Bihar state. Accused Jitu Kadraka is an expert driver and on every occasion he renders service to accused persons in transportation of contraband Ganja for pecuniary benefits. Cash of Rs.1,00,000/- seized from prime accused Ganapati Patika which he was having for payments and to bear the cost of transportation of contraband ganja. The conveyance used for transportation of contraband ganja i.e Bolero Pick Up bearing Regd No. OD-18-F 2263 stands in the ownership of accused Ganapati Patika.

Berhampur,15/10/19:A woman fled after allegedly cheating crores of rupees from multiple senior citizens with false investment schemes in Berhampur. A complaint has been registered in this regard at Baidyanathpur Police Station.
As per the available information , the accused who was staying in a rented house at Ayodhya Nagar in Berhampur city disguised herself as the Odisha chief of Central Electricity Authority (CEA) running her office at Golabanda near Berhampur University.She allegedly lured them to invest in a lucrative investment scheme of the central government called ‘Nominee Investment Plan’.
The interesting part is that the lady showed the investors some letters seeming like official documents with Ashoka Pillar Emblem on it, so that they could easily fall prey to her evil designs.
As the unsuspecting senior citizens gave her more money in a hope to get good returns in a quick time, the accused fled at the first chance she got.
When the incident came to fore, the duped investors approached the SP Berhampur Mr Pinak Mishra to get justice and return of their money. The victims further alleged that the accused even repaid them some amount after two months in the form of interest paid.
On the strength of FIR an expert team formed by SP,Mishra to trace the cheating woman.
The woman has been arrested on Tuesday from Cuttack and forwarded to Court in Baidyanathpur PS case u/s 467/468/471/420/406/120(B) IPC / u/s. 4,5.6 of PCMCS ( Banning) act and sec 6 of OPID act. Told by Mr Bishnu Pati,SDPO,Town.
The woman was identified as Madhusmita Mohapatra (27) D/o Bijayananda Mohapatra of Rambha in Ganjam. She introduced herself in public face as Odisha Head of Central Electrical Authority and duped an amount of Rs 1,17 00000/.
Police seriously investing the issue and wide interrogation is still ON.So, police right now cannot expose more information on such sensitive issue.

PURI,(Odisha),15/10/19:Bulu Munda, inspector-in-charge of Chandrabhaga Marine Police Station was transferred to the district police headquarters late Monday night after his Selfie with murder accused Radha Mohan Biswal @ Munna went viral on social media earlier in the day. Senior officers had then said the department was mulling further actions against him.
Biswal is accused of murdering a youth named Dillip Swain at Alasahi on October 5. Biswal had allegedly killed Swain in front of the latter’s father and was absconding. He is also an accused in six other cases including 4 cases of attempt to murder.
Biswal was arrested on Monday. He was being taken to nearby police station after his arrest when the Chandrabhaga police station inspector clicked a Selfie with him inside the police van and sent it on WhatsApp to someone after which the photo was widely shared.
In the picture, the accused is seen wearing sunglasses while the inspector was taking the Selfie. The accused was also taken to the police station without handcuffs(?).

Balasore: In a major crackdown on drugs trading, Excise sleuths seized 1 kg brown sugar worth Rs 1 crore from Mill Badi area of Station Bazaar area under Jaleswar police limits in Balasore district and arrested one person in the early hours of Wednesday.
The contraband was seized in a joint raid carried out by sleuths of Central Excise intelligence wing of Cuttack and Jaleswar Excise department. The arrested accused has been identified as Sapan Kumar Pradhan. A gun was seized from his house.
According to the excise officials, Pradhan had been running drug trade in Mill Badi area for a long time. Acting on a tip-off, the excise sleuths had conducted the raid.
It is pertinent to mention here that brown sugar trade is on the rise in Balasore. On October 7, police had arrested two drug peddlers and seized 38.64 gm brown sugar from Markona area under Simulia Police limits in Balasore district.
In another incident, Airport Police seized 52.23 grams of brown sugar and arrested three drug peddlers in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
