Bargarh,14/07/19: A forest official among three fake Maoists was arrested on charges of extortion here in the district today. 

He was identified as Batakrushna Sethi, posted as the deputy ranger of Sambalpur zone. Two others, who were arrested along with the official, were Dala Gobinda Sahu and Balaram Sahoo, the siblings. 

According to reports, the three were threatening the rich persons and extorting money from them by impersonating as Maoists. 

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Bhatli police conducted raids at various locations in Bargarh today and nabbed three. They also seized Rs 1.65 lakh cash, 3 mobile phones and two bikes from possession of the accused persons. 

The three had been extorting huge amount of cash from reputed contractors and businessmen in the past four years by posing as Maoists. They were calling upon the people and threatening them, informed Bargarh SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo. 

A trap was laid to catch the fake Maoists after receiving information against them from various sources, he added.

London,14/07/19:England lifted their maiden ICC World Cup trophy after they won super over against New Zealand on boundary count at Lord’s stadium.   

The thrilling final ended up in tie after England were all out for 241 in 50 overs. Ben Stokes scored 84 of 98 balls while Jos Buttler scored 59 of 60 balls. 

Later, batting first in the super over New Zealand set a target of 16 runs. However, England managed to score 15 runs and won their maiden world cup by boundary count. 

Earlier, New Zealand set a target of 242 for England to chase in the finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The match started 15 minutes late due to a wet outfield.

Puri,14/07/19:Three people, including two brothers, were brutally murdered by unknown miscreants at Patnaikia Square in Sakhigopal police jurisdiction in Puri district on Sunday. 

The incident took place in the evening. The identities of the deceased were not immediately ascertained. It is suspected that the murders were a fallout of past enmity. 

Upon being informed, police rushed to the spot and seized the bodies. The police have launched a probe into the matter and inspected the area. 

Following the murders, tension erupted in the area. The angry mob blocked the Puri-Patnaikia road disrupting vehicular movement on the route 

As the murders occurred a few metres away from the Bhubaneswar-Puri main road, it disrupted the vehicular movement on the route. Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road. 

Notably, the rituals of offering Adhara Pana to the deities on chariots conducted in Puri today and lakhs of devotees visited the pilgrim city. Although adequate security arrangements have been made for the occasion, the triple murder has raised a question on the security.

Talcher,13/07/19:Thousands of people from NTPC Talcher Kaniha township mainly employees ,family members and locals including CISF members took part in the return journey “bahuda yatra “ of Lord Jagannath and siblings from Mausi Maa mandir to Main Temple. The car festival concluded on Friday. 

Deepshika Rath Yatra Committee , NTPC Kaniha organized the nine days festival .As per tradition “chhera pahanra”  was  performed by Head of the power station  Ramesh Babu V by sweeping the chariot platform  to commence the return journey. Thousands of devotees from NTPC Township & neighboring villagers thronged to take part in the auspicious bahuda yatra.  

To celebrate the festival, cultural programmes like bhajan sandhya & cultural programmes were arranged during nine days festival. Rath yatra celebration at NTPC Kaniha is a major attraction for the inhabitants of the township as well as the local villagers.Local people from in and around the power station visit the township and participate in the pallishri mela to have blessings of the Lord Jagannath  and his siblings.

Berhampur,13/07/19:An accused in a case escaped from the police custody from Town Police station,Berhampur. 

The incident took place on 22/06/19 when the accused was arrested by Town PS,Berhampur against a case of Berhampur Sadar police station vide the  case 121/19. 

The accused person was identified as Md Imran of Bank colony area of city. 

Imran the accused who was arrested by City Cop in a attack case to one Kedar Gantayat of Bank colony, Berhampur. 

According to SDPO (Town) Mr BP Pati that on the requisition of Sadar Police to Berhampur Town IIC arrested accuse Md Imran, but  taking the advantage with some plea he escape from the Varanda of Town Police Station. 

In connection Town Police registered a case against Imran Case No- 118/19.

IIC Berhampur Town Police Ms.Santoshi Oram and her team chased him at Biju Patnaik Park on Friday and arrested on spot.

Bhubaneswar,13/07/19: Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati has threatened to paralyse assembly and Bhubaneswar if no decision was taken on the reopening of Bilt Paper Mill. 

He demanded that a high-level meeting should be convened to discuss the issue relating to Bilt paper mill in Jeypore. Participating in the discussion on the setting up of subsidiary industries by Nalco in Koraput, Bahinipati said the paper mill is locked for four months and bamboos are rotting over the months.

Bahinipati alleged that despite being a Navaratna company, Nalco is doing precious little for the development of Koraput district. He said he has discussed the matter with top officials of the industry department but to no avail. 

Replying to the query of Bahinipati, industry minister Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra said he will convene a high-level meeting in connection with  Bilt paper mill and added that the government will take necessary measures for reopening of the mill. 

Mishra said Nalco has established six ancillary factories in Koraput and added the company will establish an Aluminium Park in Angul at Rs 100 cr investment. He said eight companies have agreed to take up work for the venture.
