Berhampur,10/07/19:Recently a typical type of frauds had taken place in city which are taking place in city. Money was withdrawn from SBI- ATM by GHOST (!).Money was withdrawn from an SBI ATM in lanjipalli area of Berhampur town.
When customer went to an SBI ATM counter in Lanjipali,Berhampur Bazaar, they found the entire bank balance has been withdrawn (!).
As per our available information one Mr Abhishek of Lanjipali was persecute @ Rs.75,000/- another poor victim who lost around Rs.43,000/-.
When they both reported to their Banker,SBI Lanjipali the officer said, You might have used the debit card somewhere - automated teller machine (?) .Wise to report at our SBI Regional Office (!) stressed customer rush to Regional office and the concern officer said wise first you report at Cyber PS than come to us (!).Most entertainingly the Cyber Police replied we don’t entertain the case unless your complaint is more than one lakh (!).
Both the persecute told we didn’t used our ATM for long time, we have not share our card numbers to any one, we have not given our card to any of our relatives with our pass word, and we never received any SMS alert message. Later when need some cash and went to our local SBI-ATM there we knew that our all available balance amount is totally wash-out.
However the gentle IIC of BN Pur Police station Mr.Sarada Dash received their complaint and assured them how they will get justice.
One senior Bank of officer told that In the case of automated teller machine, the miscreants attaching a small attachment with the card insertion slot and it can be rarely seen from outside; however while inserting the card, the cardholder can find some difference - some jerk or some difficulty in inserting the card. The attachment captures all the data from the cards inserted. The miscreant takes back the device and he decodes the message through one card reading machine and he is able to get the entire details just like a bank ledger.
He picks up the cards where more number of funds are available and duplicate cards are generated and using these cards they withdraw the money.
Recently RBI had come out with clear instructions that commercial banks should pay the money withdrawn fraudulently from the automated teller machines within three days from the date of receipt of complaint from the customer.
You have to complain and you should complain providing all the details.
And you should send a letter now itself because for non submission of the complaints within the stipulated time means - you are accepting the transaction.
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its notification clearly mentions that the systems and processes in banks should be designed with layers of protection to make customers feel safe and secure while they proceed to do online transactions. It is mandatory for banks to get customers registered for SMS and e-Mail alerts. RBI has specifically told banks to not offer net banking facilities other than ATM cash withdrawals to customers who fail to provide their mobile numbers.
