TATA STEEL ORGANIZES HEALTHY BABY SHOW AND NUTRITIONAL FOOD EXHIBITION Featured

Chatrapur,07/02/19:Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS), Gopalpur Unit has organized a Healthy Baby Show and Nutritional Food Exhibition at Chamakhandi village on February 5, 2019. The main objectives of the programme were to make people aware of immunization of pregnant women and new born babies, breast feeding to babies below six months and preparing homemade nutritional food for babies after six months. More than 250 persons including pregnant women, mothers of new born babies, adolescent girls, ANM, ASHA workers and babies of age below two years participated from 23 villages of Chamakhandi, Narendrapur, Luhajhar and Kalipalli Gram Panchayat of Chatrapur and Rangailundha Block. 

The Programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Ms Krishna Kumari Nanda, Child Development Programme Officer, Chatrapur, Ms Sasmita Pradhan, Sarapanch, Chamakhandi and Dr. Jasmin Dash, Medical officer of Narendrapur Primary Health Center. Dr. E Padmanav Rao, Medical Officer, Medica and Mr. Rocky Martin, Unit Head TSRDS, Gopalpur were also present in the programme. Ms Nanda addressed the participants about the health benefits of immunization and nutritional food value and its importance for mother and children. She spoke to the mothers on how to prepare nutritional food at home with available food grains, vegetables and fruits. Dr Dash spoke in detail about the immunization of pregnant women and new born babies and its benefits and how to get immunization free of cost in the government hospitals. She also told the disadvantages of early marriage of girls. A healthy baby competition was conducted among the 45 baby participants in the programme. Winner babies were chosen according to their immunization record, breast feeding record and food habits. Prizes were given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd babies chosen by the doctors in the programme. Consolation prizes were given to all the baby participants in the programme. All the participants and guests praised Tata Steel for conducting such type of knowledge sharing health programme in the region. 

All officers of TSRDS and Mr Arun Satpathy, Manager Medika were also present for the smooth execution of the programme.
