ROURKELA,12/09/18: In a press release Dilip Ray, MLA, Rourkela has mentioned that in a question to Niranjan Pujari, Minister for Water resources, Govt. of Odisha is clueless about how many dams and bridges, check dams have constructed by neighboring states effecting three principal rivers Mahandadi, Brahmani and Kolab which effecting water flows to Odisha resulting its effects on electricity production, livelihood of fishermen and agriculture in the state of Odisha. It is pathetic that we have been shouting that Chhattisgarh has constructed dams in their territory on Mahanadi, hence, water flow to state is decreasing drastically. But when this question is asked by the Rourkela MLA in Assembly, Odisha Govt. has gone back foot by giving answer that we are collecting information, means they don’t have information yet, about numbers of bridges or dams or anything of that sort. Dilip Ray had asked this question on 24th August this year and got his answer on 11th September which shocked him. It is noteworthy, to mention that, Andra Pradesh is doing Polvaram project in the lower end of Kolab river which is restricting water source to flow to Odisha and in the similar manner Chhattisgarh is doing dams on the upper end of river Brahmani and Mahanadi. Now a case is sub judice to this matter and Odisha Govt. has been vocal in recent one year but now it is difficult to assume that whether Govt. has any information or they are shouting foul without any concrete information. If it is so, then it is dangerous. It may be assumed that everything is done and cared for manipulation voters for the election in 2019. Dilip Ray has shown his dissatisfaction for this inefficiency and asked the Govt. why they fear to share any information which is with them because it is the interest of the people of the state at large.
