Babula hospitalised in SCB; family members to be bought

Bhubaneswar,(28/04/2017): With freedom fighter Laxmi Indira Panda’s missing grandson Babula found from an abandoned place in the capital city yesterday, the political brickbat between the BJP and the BJD seems to have got more fuel to blaze further.

Babula, who was found in a weak state at a canal in Mancheswar on Thursday afternoon, was first admitted to a private hospital. As his condition was critical, he was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Though his tracing was a mystery, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced free treatment for him.

According to sources, police are planning to bring family members of Babula to Cuttack to attend him. He is stated to be suffering from tuberculosis.

It may be noted that the BJP and the BJD were engaged in passing allegation and counter allegation after it became public that Babula went missing from the city railway station on April 16 after his parents were felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After felicitation, Babula and his parents went to the city railway station to board trains to Jeypore, their home town. However, his parents, Surendra and Sujata, boarded different trains. While Sujata was traced from a train in Baleswar, Surendra reached home later. But, the whereabouts of Babula was not known till yesterday. Chief Minister had directed DGP KB Singh to find out Babula at the earliest.

What is intriguing is that Babula was traced by police rather found by locals as an unknown youth lying unconscious near a canal.

Police said detained investigation would be done after Babula recuperates.
