Slit Blind Girl’s Throat, DLSA Committee Visits MKCG

Berhampur,22/12/17:A visually-challenged minor girl was found with her throat slit after she was attacked by miscreants at Puhundi village under the Jarada police station in Ganjam district on Monday night.In a critical condition the girl was admitted to the MKCG Medical College Hospital and she is not in a position to speak as her vocal cord had been affected in the attack, doctors attending on her said.


Locals said the girl was abstaining from school owing to illness for the past few days. On the fateful night, not finding her in the bedroom, the family members searched frantically for her. Later, they found her lying in a pool of blood with throat slit in a nearby house. They immediately rushed her to hospital and informed the police and the team rush to the Spot.


Getting the information Berhampur SP,Asish Singh who visited the spot and personally monitoring the case. Instructed to use intelligence team to produce the fact at an earliest. 


Over telephone SP,Singh said,It was suspected that the girl was raped, after which the culprits tried to kill her(!).Preliminary investigation revealed that her throat was slit in an attempt to kill her.


Additional superintendent of police of Berhampur, Trinath Patel along with the scientific police team and sniffer dog squad rushed to the spot for investigation. "Though the miscreants tried to kill the visually challenged girl by slitting her throat, the alleged rape attempt will be known only after medical examination,"


On the day of incident what the family members stated that the victim along with her brother, who is also a visually impaired and their mother were sleeping in a room in their house. In the early hours when the girl's mother could not locate her, she rushed to look for her. She found the back door of the house unlocked and the girl lying outside in a pool of blood.


On Friday the DLSA team lead by District Judge,Ganjam Mr Malay Ranjan Das,Secretary Gundicha Samantasinghar,Para Volunteers (PLV) Mamita Dalei and Chandrama Pradhan visited MKCG Hospital to see the health condition of the Victim. Dr Charan Panda, Superitendent, MKCG who joined with the team.Dr Panda appraised to the Chairman the condition of the Victim was very critical but our doctor’s team are engaged full time for her treatment.


Mr Das,District Judge directs to MKCG authority to extend all financial help,Medicines etc..on free of cost to the Victim and report time to time for her improvement.
