Naveen,CM Odisha removes Red Beacon
Bhubaneswar,(19/04/2017):Hours after the Narendra Modi Government decided to ban the use of red beacons atop vehicles of dignitaries and Government officials, from May 1, seeking to end the VIP culture, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed withdrawal of red lights from vehicles of all VIPs in the State from today itself.
Today a historic steps being taken by Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik who returned to his residence from his State Secretariat office putting off red beacon from his official vehicle.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday reportedly became the first Minister of the Union Council of Minister to remove the red beacon light from his official vehicle soon after the Union cabinet put a ban on it.As per the cabinet decision, the red beacons will be allowed only for President of india,Prime Minister and Judges.
However, the first to scrap the VIP culture. More recently, the Amarinder Singh Government in Punjab has done away with red beacons followed by the Uttar Pradesh Government led by Yogi Adityanath.
