Report;Bureau,Odishabarta

Bhubaneswar,12/01/18:Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention for immediate establishment of the National Institute of New Energy and Innovation (NINEI) in the State.

Referring to his letter earlier written by him to the PM regarding setting up of the institute on February 2, August 23 in 2016 and May 16 last year, Patnaik wrote that the State Government has already allocated 73.68 acres of land near IIT in Bhubaneswar.

“The Odisha Government has also identified 1 acre if land in Bhubaneswar for the establishment for the city office of the Institute,” informed Patnaik in the letter.

However the construction of the Institute is yet to be taken up by the Central Government despite advance possession of the acquired land.

Patnaik further informed that the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has issued a closure notice to the Regional Office in Bhubaneswar on November 10 last year.

“The closure of the regional office may hamper the progress of the establishment of NINEI in Bhubaneswar, therefore I request you to kindly direct the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy to reopen it,” urged Patnaik in the letter to Modi.
