‘Rourkela Diwas’ was celebrated with wonderful experiences

ROURKELA,04/03/18:‘Rourkela Diwas’ was celebrated with all enthusiasm organized by Canvas, an organization who looks into socio-cultural activities of Rourkela. Full of thrills,’ this mega event was celebrated in the premises of Bhanja Bhawan, Sector-5 last evening. Since, Rourkela is a multilingual city and we have seen unity in diversity. People around the country of different religions and languages stay here and have proved nothing is important than brotherhood. This evening was initially inaugurated keeping in mind of all religions without any distinction, prayers been offered by spiritual gurus of all religions, Hindu, Islam, Sikh and Christians. Baba Agni representing Hindus’, Father Mojesh from Christian community, Jagjit Singh from Sikhs and Mr.Nabi from Muslim community jointly have lighted the lamps and inaugurated the mega cultural event. All spiritual Gurus’ of different community have kept their views and said this is a city of people from all religions and they live like brothers and sisters. Dr. Ashok Mohapatra of AIIMS, Delhi and Ex.HOD of NSC was present as Guest of Honour and in his address he said he was delighted when he landed in the soil of Odisha, it gave him immense pleasure and satisfaction. Since, he belongs to Medical fraternity he, focused on growing two diseases which are very much concern for all people, i.e. Diabetes and Blood Pressure, hence, all care should be taken to keep oneself in good health condition. This is not all, one has to keep himself in good mental state and should have a balanced life style with less stress. Money is important but it cannot buy happiness and good health. After 70 years of independence still education and health system is India is lacking behind, needs proper focus. Another Guest of the event L N Mihsra, Director, MCL, Burla appraised the efforts of the organization and said how this city have produced so many legendary persons in different fields. In this beautiful and colourful event, Dr. Ashok Mohapatra was honored and felicitated with ‘Odisha Ratna’ and L N Mishra as ‘Rourkela Ratna’. Both awardees were prized by Bimal Bisi, President Rourkela Steel Plant Executive Association and Sudhanshu Rout after the certificates were read out by Naren Dash. Soon after the felicitation programme, the cultural events were kicked up. Artists under the guidance of Music Director, Sarat Dhal performed dance program about ‘Rourkela Ama Maa Mati’. Swetang Sadangi of ‘Krishnam Dance Group’ performed Odishi Dance and many other artists have performed different dance forms and sang songs.  KP and Manswini Das, the famous RJs, coordinated the stage show as anchors. Many localites have viewed this event with intellectuals of Rourkela.  In the morning a mini marathon was organized by the organization which was started from Space chwak to Jubilee Park where a large numbers of sport lovers participated and ran the distance. This event was witnessed by many others including senior members of the organization Ramesh Chandra Bal, Harihar Routray, Suresh Chandra Pradhan, General Secretary of the organization. People of Rourkela had enjoyed this event with a great pride, as Rourkela is already declared a Smart City and they are the ones who live in this beautiful city.
