OHRC sought Report from Collector & CDMO Koraput in the matter of a pregnant woman deliver a baby near a drain

Bhubaneswar/Koraput,29/12/17:Acting on the complaint made by rights activist  Mr.Ranjit Sutar of Civil Society Forum on Human Rights (CSFHR), the  Odisha Human Rights  Commission(OHRC)  has directed  to The Collector & District Magistrate , Koraput and the Chief District Medical Officer(CDMO), Koraput  to inquire into the matter and submit their respective reports  to the commission in four week. 

 

The petitioner alleged that due to the negligence of the staff of the  District Head quarter Hospital, Koraput , this type of accident is being happened. One Dimai Muduli of Janiguda under Mastipur Panchayat of Koraput had accompanied  her  husband Raghu Muduli due to his illness and after treatment of her husband , Dimai Complained of her labour  pain and told tothe same to a nearby staff nurse who asked her to produce the Mamata Yojana  beneficiary card and prescription, which she did not bring with her. Subsequently , the said staff of the hospital told her to bring the documents for check up . Thereafter Dimai went towards a toilet but sat near a drain due to acute labour pain and delivered a baby girl there.  The poor health  care service in the state for which a rustic expectant  mother  fell prey   to it  and violation of her human right to live . 

 

The petitioner has prayed for action against erring officials. The next hearing of the case is fixed on 31st January  2018
